• Price on ARB compressors

Been wanting to buy one of the new ARB compressors for tyre inflation, wanted the one to be hard mounted (not in the hard case) rang around a number of the ARB stores in Syd and was quoted $350-$380 PLUS 55 for the inflation kit.
Did a search of the internet and saw Superior Engineering had them for $290 worked out shipped to Syd approx $385 with inflation kit then was asked why i wasn't buying in Syd. When i told them what I had been quoted he suggested i ring ARB H/O and find out correct retail price as they have the RRP as $290. Rang ARB H/O complained, then rang around again about 2 hrs later, whattdoyuoknow the price has miraculously "dropped down" to the RRP of $290!!!!!!!!!!!!

will be buying one next week

Re: Price on ARB compressors

If you have the cash its worth doing. But the Portible ones do the job.
I guess the other thing is if you are intending on getting air lockers or using it for anything else it may pay to look to see how much the next model up is.
I have a portible one, (the MR'S wont let me buy a hard wired one), The only issue i find with it is that after use its hot, and i dont want to put it back in the plastic case.
In Brisbane there are a few ARB stockest that will install the same product, keeping the warrenty, but are a bit cheaper.
Let us know what you end up doing.

Re: Price on ARB compressors

When I enquired about air lockers for someone overseas, ARB quoted $345 for the under bonnet compressor (CKMA12) which does the air lockers and tyre inflation. Price included the inflation kit. Also ask for a 4WD club discount. I mentioned PP and they were able to take 5-10% off.

Re: Price on ARB compressors

I got a current ARB price list from my local ARB dealer which is the national pricelist (emailed .pdf) if anyone wants it PM me and I can email it, otherwise, just do the online enquiry on their website and they should email it to you. I keep that handy for a reference.

As for the compressor, the vehicle mounted and case mounted are the same compressor but the vehicle mounted one has a bigger resevour (sp) as it is (as previously mentioned) designed to do lockers as well as tyre inflation. I have the case mounted unit simply so I can take it and use it for other things if need be and I didn't want to risk swamping it in water crossings (which I saw done on a recent trip down the VIC High Country). They are a fantastic compressor and have one of the best flow rates of any competitors compressor.

As for the inflation kit, I went and bought the bits from Bunnings (guage, couplings etc) and it worked out a hell of a lot cheaper. I have compared the gague acuracy against my home compressor and a servo and it is +/-2psi which in my books is more then adequate.

Being the same unit (hard mounted / case mounted) I can say that you won't be disappointed with the quality or performance of it!

EDIT: Just checked the price list I have and this is what it has;
CKMA12 - ARB Air Compressor 12 Volt Including Loom & Bracket $290
CKMP12 - Portable ARB Air Compressor Inc Hose & Carry Case $349
2000 Prado RV6 ~ TJM Type 15 Steel Bullbar ~ Uniden 400SX-RM & GME4702 Ant ~ Front Tow/Recovery Hooks ~ ARB Recovery Kit ~ ARB CKMP12 Air Compressor ~ DIY Rear Door Trim & Table ~ Extended Diff Breathers ~ Safari Snorkel ~ Wireless Reverse Camera ~ Iron Ox Full Length Roof Rack ~ Looong Wish List ...

At that price then its prob worth just doing it.
If it does everything you will want it to.
I was just thinking it would suck to buy it then 6 months latter need to up grade,

There are two items peoiple are talking about here. The air comprssor and the tyre inflation kit. The compressor by itself is around $290-300 and the inflation kit is about $50.00.

Guys
Ended up buying the vehicle mounted one with the inflation kit for $345 total, looked at it at work and am wondering if the length of the wiring loom will reach, I will be mounting it at first on the spare battery tray where the battery is fitted on the petrol prado's (i have a diesel) but later on will be mounting it on the side of the drawers i will be building in the back, just want to know will the loom reach that far? atm I am looking at putting it on the passengers side in the rear when i get the drawers made but i do not want to have to splice more wiring in to make it fit (once the dual batteries go in there is no more room in the engine bay as i have ABS that is where most people seem to put their compressors. Any feed back appreciated

Regards

Hi Gerry,

In my opinion I would install it onto the left hand wheel arch as described in this thread:
http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic....st=0&sk=t&sd=a

The wiring loom is more than adequate for this position. I've installed the switch just on the spare slots underneath the ash tray.

Note that the compressor does get pretty hot and personally I wouldn't want it in the cabin of the car. Mind you others have (matter of personal opinion).

Re: Price on ARB compressors

Fitted it yesterday, the loom was a basic plug and play, only changes I made were to run the trigger wire directly off the battery so it bypasses the ignition and the other not connecting up the light power lead as i already know what switches do which.
spent 1/2 the day chasing leaks, finally fixed them all with it holding pressure for over 1/2 hr before the pressure switch cutting in
very happy with the setup now just got to build the drawers and move everything to the rear of the car

Dragging up and old thread here, but just seeing what the current prices are like, this thread is 6 years old.

I got a price today for the CKMA12 for $300 neat

Or $400 neat for the compressor, pump up kit and the inflator/gauge/deflator thingy.

Sound about right?

If its just to pump up the tyres I would save the money and get a 4WD Supercentre Thumper. Great flow rate and good price. - Three yrs experience so far.
