  • Annoying wide-angle stick on mirrors

    Howdy All,

Has anyone ever had any success with removing those small (approx 1 inch diameter) wide-angle mirrors that you somtimes find stuck on the side mirrors?? They came already fixed to the mirrors of our new rocket (read 05 V6 prado) and I REALLY want to get rid of them, just a bit worried about scratching/breaking the mirror surface behind them.

    Any thoughts would be awesome.

    Cheers,

    Tom.

My complaint is that they fall off! To remove them try some gentle heat from a hair dryer to soften the doulbe sided tape glue and then gently lift the edges. Use turps etc. to get rid of the rest.Neil

If you can get your hands on some 3M adhesive remover it works great.

You can try using a razor blade, just slice behind the 2 sided tape, to get the rest of the tape and adhesive off use eucaliptus oil.

Length of 1 or 2 kg fishing line gently sawed backed and forth between the object and backing will usually do the trick, then use turps or ti-tree oil as 404Pug suggested to get the rest of the adhesive off.

          Cheers,

What is it with those little wide angle mirrors and Aussies? I loaned my truck to 3 Queenslanders to take a trip for 4-days and across an 80 mile desert and I got it back with those little mirrors.

I'm in favor of removing mine too. :x :x
