  • Bunnings Kincrome jack and stand

Saw a special on at Bunnings, jack rated at 1550Kg for $39.95 and pair of stands rated at 2000Kg for $39.95. Also noticed much more Kincrome stuff in stock!

Considering the Prado weight is around the 2T mark is it worthwhile buying these for DIY oil changes/maintenance etc?

I'm not sure how much the 120 weighs, but the 150 weighs in at 2.3 tonnes... Should be easy enough to change the engine oil without a jack or ramp...

So do you think the jack and stand will be ok to life/prop one side of the Prado?

Jack stands ok, jack maybe not, I bought the jack for my camper. I have a 3T Armstrong trolley jack for the garage and 3T bottle jack for the Prado when in the bush.

Repco currently has a 2T workshop style trolley jack that is capable of lifting up to 495mm. It also has a quick action lift to get the jack up to the car. Selling for $99. Brand is Pro-Lift. The box weighs 32kG!

It's not only the rating that is important, it's the lift range as well.

I also like the design of ratchet style axle stands. It is much more convenient to have it low, slide it under the car and lift it up without having to put a pin in. It also has finer height adjustments. I don't own a set as I already bought the cheaper version where you put a pin in.

Do these have a safety pin as well :?: Some of the rachet stands were taken off the market for safety concerns :?:

I thought that the weight of the car on the ratchet teeth is enough???

Sorry I can't be more specific, but my ex-neighbour had some rachet type stands recalled for safety reasons His were replaced with a similar product that had a back up pin.

OK I'll stick with my current set then.
