    Hi Ron.H.

They really do look great and I like the idea of the remote. Does the remote fit on your keyring?

I'm just amazed at seemingly how expensive these LED lighting solutions have become. I thought they would be more in the range of $50-100 and then I see they have a RRP of $300. Woah!

These items don't need to be expensive! I bought the 5 metre Roll of 120LED p/m waterproof LED strip which also came with 3M double sided tape for $39.99 incl delivery, $20 worth of fittings and heatshrink from Jcar and less than $8 for the key chain wireless dimmer remote. I can make up what lengths I need and at a fraction of those costs.

Does the remote fit on your keyring? Yes it does fit on to a keyring.
I didn't say I paid full price, I got a deal of $100 off and an extra length of flexible led's and the remote with dimmer box thrown in for free, when the reps came to the 4wd club that I am in. The first time he could not keep his appointment and had to postpone till next months meeting then threw in a few freebies to keep us all happy. Just be aware of some of the brightness and quality of some of the cheap led's on ebay may not be as good, sometimes you get what you pay for. I was thinking of doing the same thing buying bits and pieces to solder up until these came along with everything done. There would have been another dozen members who also took up the good deal and everyone is very happy with the product from Korr Lighting.

Resurrecting an old thread and hoping the great PP hive mind can help.

I'm thinking of adding some LED's to my awning something like these (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OZ-A12V-5...item3a87f5d82c)

To keep it simple I was going to just run some cable to some battery clamps to my 2nd battery, that way I don't have to have the windows open or keys in the ignition like I would if I connected to the 12v OEM socket.

Do you think I would need to include a fuse somewhere along the line? With a 2m strip I expect it will be about 3A.
Anyone see any other issue with this set up?

I would install a fuse as close to your power source as possible. 3A would be fine...

i haven't put a fuse in mine... maybe I should

I would assume it would blow too easily though with alligator clamps attaching it.

Why limit yourselves to lights that are only usable when the awning is deployed. I have Narva 4 spot LEDs bolted to the roof rack on both sides. They bounce light off the under side of the awning when open and throw light out to each side when the awning is closed. Food for thought.

                  Under Awning Lighting

                  G'day all,
Investigating a lighting solution for under my awning. and looking at several options.
Was thinking of mounting 2 of the below to the roof rack by making brackets to hold them and mount the other end to the aluminium strip of the awning (head of the m10 bolt in the channel)
My other option is to mount them direct to the upright brackets that connect the roof rack to the roof but I'm not a fan of putting in 3 big holes for each light.
                  http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NARVA-LED...item43daa171dc.

I prefer the idea of permanent light mounting to the car but any other thoughts are appreciated.

I've just got the velcro Kings brand - though I have yet to test out. But should be the business. I bought an Ironman system, but that is on my back door.

I've just got an 5050 LED strip with 3M sticky backing and stuck it to the frame of the awning with a simple alligator clip off the second battery.

                      Similar to this:

Ahh I had a search of the threads and must have missed that one. I prefer the idea of hard mounted lights attached to the vehicle for if I want to light up without having the awning deployed

They don't appear to be waterproof and may not be suitable for external mounting.

Have a look at Korr lighting, all their lights seem to be good quality. I have their lighting for our camp lights and can't fault them. We had the wireless control unit fail after 18mths and they replaced it no questions. Great customer service and good quality gear. I would definatly buy from them again.

                                Sorry about that.

The description is "NARVA LED INTERIOR STRIP LIGHT " and I read the details and I didn't see any mention of IP66.

After your comment I searched the ebay ad and found "SMD L.E.Ds deliver a powerful spread of light with low current draw and IP66 rating." The text was white on a white background and hence hidden.

                                cheers,
