Hey SSbaby, before you settle make sure you have the best price around, I spent a month shopping for prices and in the end I used a reverse auction site ( PM me if you want the site, I don't want to advertise for them in this threed) To hold the reverse auction cost me $150, and if I bought the car from the winning dealer they would refund me $75. I ended up bringing the first price I got from the dealer down by $8k..

Now thats a fair few cartons of beer! LOL

I did end up getting a local area dealer to match the price and went local in the end, but I found that it was $150.00 well spent.

I have never been happier with a vehicle than the Prado GXL D4D

    Good luck happy shopping

Now that sounds like a damn good way to buy a new car.

I have heard of such things in the past, but to have someone who has done it and saved then thats even better. Great to know it works.
Gotta keep the bastards honest somehow.

I commenced an auction through the website,

they emailed a network of dealers that sell toyotas, and the bidding war commenced, each time a new bid came in all dealers and myself we informed of the price, I received a bundle of emails that day and at the end the price was down to $54,000 drive away, with Sovereign bull bar, roof rack, tow pack, weather shields, bonnet protector and headlight protectors, and rubber mats.

I contacted two local dealers, one said no way, the other said he will get back to me, and did, and that's how I bought the Prado!

I don't mind posting the website for those that are interested, but would like a site admin to approve me doing so first, some forums don't like advertising!!!,,, otherwise I don't mind PMing anyone who is interested

          Regards

                Hey Ba77hy

You PM'd me some time ago with the website... about the time you bought your GXL. I still have the name of the website in my PM queue.

                Thanks for the helpful info!

                  Ba77hy,

There is a distinct difference between offering a recommendation on a commercial service, and blatant in your face unsolicited advertising.

I can't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to recommend the service you used. If you look around this site, the same has been done on many occasions by other users without any problems.

I always say, bouquets and brick-bats where they are deserved. :-)

                  Cheers,

                  Drew. (ppModerator)

                      OK then,,

                      www.betterdeal.com.au

is the site I used. It worked a treat, and yes it really really works. A friend of mine is looking to purchase a new GXL TD so I will post how he went also. He is definately using betterdeal!

There are also many other good ways to get discounts through Fleet websites and alike, but I can only say from first hand experience that this business/website saved me a massive amount, about 8 weeks pay!!!! I more than happy to tell people to use them as they too can save heaps of money.(8k is not guareenteed, depends on your original quote and the dealers purchase prices at the time of purchase etc) but either way should save a good amount!

Go wheel and deal the dealers...!!!

I feel some much better now, I hate seeing so much of peoples hard earned money going as commission! Surely over $8,000.00 mark up is a bit over the top, but i guess if people are happy paying that amount so be it. I do understand that Car Salesmen have got to make a living, but just not at my expense LOL.

I can't help myself, every time I read the title of this thread, the voice in my head says:

"My heart said "Pajero", my head said "Wanker to you too, mate"

                        or

"My heart said "Pajero", my head said "That's it - I'm outta here."
