The Prado's and FJ Cruisers are well represented, but look out for the D-Max from Brizzy.

Bruce Garland is in 21st place after the first day of racing. Last year he was forced to withdrawal after a mishap with a tyre going into his radiator, but 2 years ago he came in at an unprecedented 11th overall. Not bad for an independent team. I'm hoping I can get some pics from the inside and share them at the MAXTRAX Facebook page.

        Check out his status here.

        Good luck Bruce.

I have a 2007 FJ Cruiser (An American knock-off 120) Considerably built up.

I am also a Founding Father of the FJ Bruisers, FJ Cruiser club, in Washington D.C.

Surprised they use the SWB. Would be a tiring tail happy thing for such a long distance.

          Good luck!

            Re: Dakar 2011 - prados

Love to know what suspension they are using !

Know its not standard but looks lifted but very pliable for the yumps & rough terrain encountered

            Making me envious

on of the best suspension for rally raid you can get - is donerre
in most cases they use double long travel suspension with external expansion canisters - they are custom built for customers specifications

                  Re: Dakar 2011 - prados

The 150 looked quite a bit more sure footed than the 120... I wonder if that's just progress or how the 150 is made :?

The almost roll on the test track would have had the heart pounding

                    Mudflaps ?

Noticed the mandatory polyurathane red flaps - red makes it go faster !

Plus they just about bullet proof used on all rally cars I know of

And thanks for the suspension company info too, pricey no doubt

                      Re: Dakar 2011 - prados

The Prados appear to be running Cooper STT tyres apparently in 255/75/R15 format. I wonder what the advantages are with this size tyre over standard?
