I always remove the keys from ignition and lock it while i'm filling up, heard too many incidents of this happening to others.

      Man, that'd suck.

          Mal,

Not too much crime in Baulkham Hills, however, in other parts of Sydney, some crook will be stealing things from your Prado as you walk inside the service station to pay. Better off to lock all vehicles when not in them.

          Yowie.

Apparently it is a fineable offence to leave an unattended unlocked vehicle in NSW. If you lose something from an unattended car or lose the car itself tough titties.

Not sure if a finable offence would be necessary, but certainly common sense would suggest not leaving the keys in the ignition at anytime the drivers seat is not occupied and to lock the car when not attended. I never leave the keys in the ignition, and lock it at all times, even for the 2 minute walk into a servo!!!

Not down in Cranbourne, Victoria. I pulled into the local outdoor carpark at the shopping centre down there and found that the car parked next to me had all the windows down with a couple of kids asleep in the back. :? They would have been around 3 and 5 years old! Went in and did my thing for 5-10 minutes and they were still asleep when i left. Atleast he or she left the windows down for them.

Also saw the same thing in devenport when i was down there, except this person left the keys in the ignition as well. Maybe kids are a good anti theft device.
