My best wishes and thoughts goes out to our friends in the North.
Like many have already said,.....bunker down and keep safe.
Living in Townsville back in 1988-1990 I remember both Cyclone's Charlie and Aivu.
None of which compare to the magnitude of this one.
I hope to hear in the days that follow that all our Northern members, family and friends come through O.k.
Keep safe
Cheers

Hi all, I am glad that's over, it was without doubt the longest night that I have ever spent. The wind started for real at 8:00 pm and eased off a bit at about 5:00 am but kept blowing huge gusts until about 1:30 pm today.(17 Hrs) The noise from the wind was huge (incredibile roar & howling) also the force of the wind hitting the rear of the house was shaking the house and you could feel it through the house slab. Thankfully there was no apparent damage to houses in our area anyway. I know others weren't so fortunate. Lots of trees blown over & others were snapped of halfway up the trunk or the crown of the tree was snapped off. We lost power at 4:30 pm Wed and it came back on just before dark this evening. Others may not get their power back for weeks, so we are most fortunate. How ever I don't want to go through that ever again.
Hey wifecallsmegrumpy, thanks for your offer to send the Prado back if you found it in Perth, but it came through the night very well except for the shredded palm fronds, leaves & bits of bark plastered all over it.
So you won't be seeing it in Perth. not yet anyway.

My youngest son (4) was asleep before it started & my 7 yr old daughter was still awake, so we gave her an mp3 player to listen too to help block out the noise. They slept very well actually, but it was my wife, 17 yr old son & myself that didn't get any sleep until later in the morning. But we are all well as most people in NQ are.
Well played bananabenders! Good to hear that that life and limb are all intact at this stage.Everything else we can fix and replace!Stay strong and we're thinking of ya! Cheers!!
