Looking at putting together a set of homemade drawers in the back of the 90 series prado.
looking through the different websites the drawer runners are rated around 45-50 kg then the next rating is 100 kg.
I have added up what I will be putting in and it weighs 40 kg (bottle jack, drag chain, recovery gear snatch, d shackles and bridle), will the 45 kg slides be enough or do you think it is better to go to the 100kg slide?
Also here is a place http://www.drawerslide.com.au/ that has good prices but the 100kg slide "Operates off one ball bearing each end", they assure me that it is suitable but i am not convinced without looking at it, does any body have any experience with these slides?

    Thanx in advance

      Re: Drawer Slides

I've used these sliders before when creating a display cabinet. They work perfectly great for drawers (40kg sliders) seeing as they can be detached from the main ball bearing slider. ...I can take pics of the sliders if you really want to see them in action

        Re: Drawer Slides

        Hi Gerry,

I'm not familar with the slides however if it was my set up I would prefer to have the planned load at 50% or less of the rated capacity rather than at over 90% of the rated capacity. I have always found that something working easily is better than the same device at near max capacity.
I believe you will find the heavier rated slides will move in/out easier and more smoothly with 40 odd kg in them.

        Just my thoughts.

Or you could do the same as some of the commercial drawer manufacturers (Like ORS)
and simply use two sets of drawer runners to increase the capacity.

ie: 2 sets of 40kg slides give you around 80kg.

I've used the Hafele drawer runners in my own home-made drawers with no
issues over thousands of km of corrugated roads. Interestingly, 2 sets of
the 45kg runners (90kg capacity) are a lot cheaper than a single set of the
          100kg runners.

          I hope the info helps..............

you would be best to go with the 100kg runners.
the weight of the items may add up to 40-45kgs, but you put that in a vehicle that bounces,
and that weight is now increased.
i have run very similar 100kg runners in my drawers (since sold), but worked a treat and never had an issue
