  • Proud Owner

Hi all, just like to say that Im now the proud owner of a 05 GXL white prado with 79k on it, one owner, bullbar (toyota alloy) never been off the tar (I'll soon change that) immaculate condition. WOW how quit is the V6 in the 120, smooth, powerful, Wife has put the brakes on any mods till the bank balance climbs back up again so no lift for a while, and the tyres (dunlop grandtraks) still have about 70/80% left on them so no reason for new tyres yet either !! buggar. Also must say how informative this website is. I did some research on the grande's and luckily I came accross the problem with rust in the sunroofs, was a little to late as I had left a $200 deposit on one (wouldnt give my money back), private sale, then when I went back to pick it up I double checked the sunroof and it had rust under the seal, so prior to getting the GXL I looked at 3 other grande's and all had rust in the sunroof, an 03,04, and an 05 I checked out yesterday so I kept away from the grande's, would have loved a VX but extremely rare compared to GXL and grande's for some reason. I have done over 1000k in the last week driving all over Sydney, ended up buying one 10k from home at the local dealer.Regards Steve

If she is worried about the bank balance being low the answer is obvious. Get an overdraft, the more you spend the bigger the bank balance is. This way you can get your mods done and she gets a larger and larger bank balance.

You just gotta think laterally sometimes. Good choice on the white 120 even if it is one of those ones that runs on lawnmower fuel :P

        Cheers Andrew

This was the old girl I sold privately with only 106k on it turbo diesel, good thing, fantastic condition and yes had been taken off road but obviously no rock hopping, top of the range. Just wanted some thing with more room in it and some more power, couldnt afford a D4D this time round unfortunately. Regards Steve

Yeah Andrew, couldnt afford the D4D this time round, another 10k + for one, maybe next time round the D4D will come down a bit when they introduce the V6 T/D in the prado, but by then the petrol will have dropped in value too LOL cant keep up with them. Was soooo lucky to get white, most I looked at were either black or a dark grey, couldnt believe I scored a white one. Regards Steve

Congratulations Steve, the new machine looks good & I'm sure you'll be happy with it

The new owner of "the old girl" seems rather pleased too  Good to see it all worked out OK.

                Steve,

Well done mate. Pity it's not black though. When I'm back next time I'll swing by for a look and compare fuel figures. I'll bring a can of mower fuel for ya too, that'll probably last you long enough to get off the driveway

Congratulations - that is low ks for an 05. I don't think you will be disappointed with 4lt petrol. After 3 years I'm VERY pleased to have gone petrol rather than diesel. Just my opinion of course. Cheers, Bear

Ha Ha big fella, your probably right, but cant see it been any worse then the old V6 3.4 I had before the diesel. Not really worried anyway I dont do big k's round town always driving the wifes buzz box as you know, would be lucky if it will do 80/100k a week, have to admit glad I wasnt running the prado around for the last two weeks while looking a one, the shitier I got from looking at crap the more the boot went down in frustration

Yeah, my wifes the one that actually said if it doesnt go off road she wanted a TRD Aurion instead lol  . Unfortunately it wont be getting any off road tyres on it untill the ones that are on it wear out  , told her Im going to buy a second set of rims so I can run muddies on them and keep the grantrecks for driving around town on   . Will miss the traction control the old 90 had, it worked brilliantly off road, already told her ill need at least a rear locker in it, her face looked some thing like this :x :x , she said not this year buddie LOL. Have to get the cunning kit happening again for a lift first off, then work on the rest of it, wont have everything I want on it till next year as we have a holiday coming up as well. Hoping to at least have the lift and tyres before the next gtg, see how I go, but stupid me not putting the brain into gear quik enough, she asked me would the road tyres be ok for stockton beach, I quickly answered, yeah no problems with the grantrecks on the sand   Regards Steve
