Do Cape York Servo's accept Fuel Cards?

    Do Cape York Servo's accept Fuel Cards?

    Hi everyone, I am planning to spend 5 weeks in the cape starting August 1 this year. I have a leased vehicle with both BP and Caltex fuel cards and was wondering if they will be accepted in the Cape? I assume they would be in the major areas like Weipa but would like to know what others have experienced.

    Have you tried to contact any of them direct?

      Hi Strider
      We travelled to the Cape July/August 2010 with the camper trailer. I took two Jerry cans on the trailer for just in-case, I would not bother with this again as the added weight was not warranted. Even with the thirsty 20 ltr per 100 km, full tanks of 180 lt (120 series) gave us plenty of range and we passed many fuel stops.
      We also toyed with the idea of fuel cards but opted to use cash or eftpos. Like you said the larger centers of Cooktown and Weipa should be ok,
      But even this could change on the frontier. You could do a search of BP and Caltex in FNQ to locate these servo's and find out their paying options, even contact them to find out for sure.

      By the way, nice list of modifications you have fitted to your rig should serve you well on this trip and more.

        Take cash as well as your card as when we fueled at the Jardine ferry back in 08 the EFPOS was down and cash was the only choice.Technoligy is good when it works.
