We have the rv5 with the add on sides and front panels have also added the front extension . gives us more room , very happy with it , it is quick to set up the basics , can take extra 10mins to put all the extras on, its heavy to lift on the roof , but we fit everything into the one bag . have taken it to cape york , next big trip is the Kimberley . The company is very good to deal with if you do have any issues .
    cheers max

I sold my Rv4 with every attachment possible last year, after using it extensively over 3 years all over W.A in all sorts of weather conditions.
Now what i found was that if your going to be camping mostly on prepared camp sites they are a great tent! but if you go of the beaten track i.e uneven ground or the beach they are a pain in the arse...... on uneven ground with the square frame it can be a little tricky to set up and on sand a major fault is the sloping rear window as when the wind picks up, the sand is swept up the back and filtered through the back mesh filling the inside with sand.... now for some reason you can zipp the sides of the rear panel but not the underneath so sand will always come in.
Another fault is the way the top slopes down..... when conditions are right and condensation sets in (with or without fly) water builds from the top and drips down the sloped section and builds up on the cross bar which is roughly where your head is and it starts to drip on your face! a real piss of when your trying to sleep.
Finally my last trip to Sharkbay the wind was blowing about 40-45knots and in the middle of the night the internal frame could'nt handle it and it all snapped and tore the canvas.Needless to say that was my final trip with this tent and although i had it all repaired i had enough of it.
In terms of set up times in good weather and on grassed or prepared camp sites they dont take so long but throw in windy conditions, uneven ground and it takes a while to get right.
I had some great camping trips with the tent but overall my next choice would be the basic canvas tent someone posted up earlier.
Hmm I can't answer re the sand comments as we have never set up on the beach or really sandy locations.

However we have set our both our RV 5's (as separate tents) in the bush on sloping ground at night in the rain several times and never had problems.

As for the condensation problems we have only experienced it when we have not used the fly's
We never had any problems camped at captain Billys landing wind was blowing a gale put the back of the tent to the wind and no problems well pegged down others around us had issues all night we were snug and cosy inside . cheers max

I have a BW turbo 240. I also had concern for the knuckles as expressed by TimA. I have had no problems but just ot be safe.
I contacted Blackwolf and ordered a spare of the top and middle knuckles and take these with me just incase there is an issue. For us the big consideration was being able to stand in the BW compared with the Oztent.

Anyone got any updated thoughts on the RV5 tent vs the Jet tent.

I currently have the Coleman Montana for 2 adults and 3 kids under 10 but its to big and bulky. Was looking at an RV5 which says it is a 5 man but if I measure it on the ground it looks like a squeeze for 5.

OK I answered myself today. Went into BCF to have a look and they had the Black Wolf and RV5 setup. 2 of the employees there when I asked which one said they do sell the Blackwolf a bit but personally they both separately own the RV5 and love it.

Girl spent ages showing me all the add on bits and I was hooked. Not sure if it is true but she said whenever there are big sales they never apply that discount to the RV5s, however the 25% for this weekend sale does apply on all of the RVs and accessories. I got the RV5, sides, front and floor to give us flexibility on what we want to do. She showed me the screen and it was listed at $1240 approx. and I paid $936.

Can't wait to try it out. So the Coleman which is still in great condition will be going on ebay next weekend.

Nice - I think you'll enjoy it - We don't have the front, but I think I will at some point for added flexibility. From memory you'll get the sides in a separate bag? I've found that it all fits in the main bag. Its quite roomy.
