  • GPS with 2 cameras

I have has a Tomtom that was stolen and need to replace it - used mainly for street navigation (all states in Oz, plus was used for a 2 week drive in UK with downloaded maps). Prefer now to choose a GPS with a reversing camera and caravan camera (have done about 30,000k's with c/van on the back, brilliant tow vehicle, bit heavy on fuel) - would be good to see who's behind).
Looking at VMS 600S and Polaris, but forums/blogs suggest VMS is the better.
    Any suggestions?

I've had a Polaris for about 12-18mths and it's brilliant.
I only think it can have 1 reverse camera for it as per built. But I suppose you could rig up a 2nd camera and use a switch to change over to each one.
Polaris fits neatly in the slot on my model, though the VMS needed additional blanking plates, which I thought were a bit ugly.
I've got mine in my 2006, or rather was until I pulled it out to sell to a mate. He had a OEM GPS and didn't like it, so we were doing a swap, but he ended up trading his vehicle with my old standard unit in it and now I've got the OEM in. It doesn't have the features of the Polaris, but oh well it's looks standard.
PM if you're interested in the Polaris.

Have the VMS Touring Unit and swear by it. 2 cameras (toggle switch to utilize the van camera), iTopo and OziExplorer work well, Hema maps also, street nav terrific, never been lost in a city yet. Have TPMS for 4 tyres at this stage. It has all the usual CD/DVD/bluetooth/HDTV/radio/iPod connectivity/camera and video display. No need for extra dash board items that may rattle loose or become missiles (heaven forbid!) Fantastic color display. Did cost a lot but I work to support my car Pearlie.
The only trouble is that when you go through rivers and puddles, you need to get out and wipe down the camera lens... Bugger!!
Suggest you look up the following website if you are interested...
http://www.vms4x4.com/product-in_das...general_toyota (sorry can't get direct URL link to work so cut and paste should do it!)
The rear camera is under Accessories. Works really well on my Jayco Dove.

You're here for a good time, not a long time... Love my Prado...
