  • Mounting GPS Mouse

Anyone found a good place to permanently mount a USB GPS Mouse?

To be able to use mine on the weekend I just put it on the top of the dash with some BluTak:

I don't like having the wire hanging over the front - it's OK functionally but I would like to be able to leave it on the car.

You can mount the mouse in the same spot but run the wiring up through the vents, all depends on where the other end goes, obviously to you GPS but you don't say where that is mounted. Have a look in the Digoptions TP90X1 thread and I reckon you will find details on how to run the wiring through the vent.

    Cheers Andrew

Thanks Andrew, I'm running a Netbook on a RAM mount. I will have a look at the vents and the thread.

When you run the cable through the vent you prize open the vent with a screwdriver, try to jamb a piece of wood or plastic beside it, my cable eventually shorted but came good when i squeezed a piece if wood beside it which took the pressure off the cable.

I was wondering if I should put something in to relieve the pressure so thanks for that. I've just been out to have a look - do you have to remove the whole centre console to get to the inside or is there some devious way of getting the cable through without? As I'm not replacing the head unit I'd rather not remove it if I don't have to I took the side trims and air vents off but didn't have a torch or any tools to look any further.

Just been out to have a look - I see what you mean. I'd be a bit worried some a****** would rip it off plus I don't know how waterproof it is.

As it worked perfectly where it is I think I will still go with using the vent for the cable.
