    Found the map index here...

    https://www.ga.gov.au/image_cache/GA3340.pdf

ok, now I've actually had a decent play with these... there seems to be some sections missing (eg. SH54-13) Anyone else found this to be the case?

    Nige.

hmm... they do seem to be there.

think I've worked out what happened...

I unzipped each state zip file into it's own folder then copied everything into the Ozi Map folder. Some of the files like the one above are in the wrong state zip file as after I downloaded and converted them I went to copy them into the Ozi Maps folder and they were already there. Tracing back into the state folders finds them in the NSW one!

back to whatever you were doing

that's quite possible, if the had a border running between them, or close to an edge, or i couldn't work out specifically where they were and thought they were close to another one, then they could be in either.

the file names were pretty sequential for most but some just were nowhere near where they should be based on file names..

yep, the naming system needs the overall map to make sense of... going to try to print it on A3 in a moment.

On another note... have you triedto join maps using the MapMerge program on the Ozi site downloads page? For me it goes thru the process and produces a loverly map with absolutely nothing on it!

the index printed on A3 needs very good vision (I can read it but it's hard work) or a magnifying glass to read! However, one can print the section you're interested in only which is then readable.

Next question... Some of these 1:100000 maps are quoted as 'published' but not available from the Geoscience website (that I can find) does this mean that you can buy a paper version?

I noticed the same issue. When I looked at SA about the most northernly rows of maps (probably two or three) appear in NT and the easternly appear in QLD. Not a real issue once you work out what is going on. I really only noticed this as I had only loaded the SA maps and found only about half the state. When I added NT and QLD, most of the rest was there. At the time I though this was a bit :? but it's cool now.

You can actually move the maps that are wrong into the correct directories while in Ozi but then you need the time to do that.

An example of this are maps g5211_ozf, g5215_ozf are in the NT folder but are really SA. G5207_ozf is the map directly north of g5211_ozf and the bottom edge of this is SA. Also h5207_ozf, h5211_ozf and h5215_ozf are also sitting in the NT directory. That last one is the SA/WA border on the souther coast  but that's cool.

                    nice ordered posting!

In my endevour to find more detailed maps of the Flinders Ranges (there's a torrent out there but no one is seeding) I've made my own.

I use a GIS application called MapInfo at work and by using the Geoscience download specific for it, I've created a series of fairly high scale (or is that low?) maps of the region. Haven't worked out what scale they actually are yet and when I joined them together to form one map it went haywire.

No idea how accurate it will be (going to do one in my local area to test my technique) but I was wondering if anyone had a Ozi track file that runs through the Flinders as overlaying that might give me an idea if I'm wasting my time. I'll have a look at ExplorOz to see if they have one but I'd prefer one from a known source.

Lol. I wouldn't worry too much. Put them altogether and everything is there. Still easier than working with IBM Consultants

I could put it that everyone wants a bit of South Australia.

Hey Schaffer, there's a whole lot of "g"'s there, some duplicated, should they be other letters too? i.e. qld to sa and nsw to sa have quite a few similar numbers and they exist in qld but not nsw. though nsw does have the same numbers starting with other letters.

Sorry McBain. I've corrected my Gs to Hs and quickly checked the others. Found some additional entries that appeared there by accident. Too much copy and paste yesterday morning.
