    G'Day

Just wondering whether anyone has optioned the SatNav unit on the GXL and what they think of it.

Also has anyone looked into or fitted an aftermarket SatNav unit that is similar to the genuine item in regards to dash mounting and the touch screen?

    Thanks

How often does Toyota release a new Sat Nav Map CD (or is it a DVD?) and how much does it cost?

If you are within the warranty period and a new map CD comes out, are you entitled to a free upgrade?

I have 2 quotes one for 3650 & one for 3880 fitted. Problem is that they quote the vehicle with extras subtotal it and then put a discount at the bottom so I am unsure whether any further discount to the satnav has been applied or not.

I have recently purchased an 03 TD Grande and updated the satnav DVD to no 13 (originally fitted with no 2); however I canot get the voice to tell me anything but 'proceed to the route and guidance will commence'' and then ''you have arrived at your destination''; ie she does not tell me when to turn etc., although she does so in demo mode.

I have tried following the instruction book but no joy ! Can anyone help ?

                    Hi PradoPete

Sounds like the SatNav has somehow lost its connection to the vehicle speed sensor unit. This is the exact symptom when this happens (have read about it on some American forums).

Also have a look at the following. I realise it is not for a Prado but the US units are fairly similar.

                    http://www.siennaclub.org/forum/index.p ... opic=12004

Hope this gives you a a starting point.

                    Cheers

That's strange - I have the opposite problem in my 120, there's too much female voice and I can't seem to turn it off. Earplugs might help.

I don't even have the Toyota sat nav.

"Watch out of that lorry, Richard." "What lorry, Hyacinth?" "Well there might be one!" Yes I have watched too much ABC in my time.

                        ;-)

                          Same issue

                          Hi PradoPete

I have just taken delivery of a 2007 D4D Grande and mine is doing the same as yours. I enter the destination and she says "proceed to the highlighted route and the route guidance will start". I start driving and she keeps quiet and doesnt say another word until I reach the destination! Also, the rerouting is not working when I go off track...
And yes I have guidance in all modes turned on
I took it in for the 1000km checkup today and they confirmed it as a problem and have booked me in for mid next week to look at the problem further.

Thanks Michael for the suggestion and the link. I have tried to look for some sort of speed sensor linked button but nothing apparent in the instruction book or on screen.

I also had a brief look at the US link and was interested to see at least one post with exactly the same problem, however no solution.

                            She does go through all of the appropriate signals in demo mode, so I know she can do it !!;

and yes the version 13 dvd was bought through ebay recently, following my seeing a pradopoint post to the ebay 'buy it now' item - paid $230.

However the original DVD (no 2) is no different to this one, in terms of the having the same problem.

                              Hi Pete

My understanding is that one of the connectors on the back has a wire which goes to the vehicle speed sensor (not sure where that is). There may be a problem with the connector or the wire or the sensor.

Or it could be something completely different.

I have been through a number of those forums on the siennaclub website in the past and I'm pretty sure there are some good descriptions which go down to the wiring level. I've had my unit out before and access to the back is not a real issue. Finding the problem may take a bit more digging.

Didn't notice whether your truck was still under warranty.

                              Good luck
                              Cheers Michael
