Thanks for the comments guys, well I called the shop back and because it was still new they let me swap for the 3G model and pay the $140 difference. And no restocking fee. Problem solved! Kieranu you are dead right with 2 young kids I couldn't see me being very happy when one of them throws the little black box away! Common sense has prevailed.
    Thanks again guys.
    Cheers
    Phil

BTW I got to have a look at the "new iPad " the screen is amazing! HD movies really look good. The pixels are so small yous can't see them unless you press your face into the screen!
Good luck with. Your new one Kieranu I'm sure you will love it!
      Cheers

Nice one Phil. Yes, the fewer things for wee ones to nibble on or throw away the better. I'm probably two or three weeks away from the new one as my wife's school is waiting for an educational discount that will never appear but will be good when we get it. The missus has discovered some new apps she can use for work so she's dead keen too.
2009 Prado 150 D4D GXL with 265/70R17 Cooper AT/3 tyres, Max Trax, HR tow bar, Airtec snorkel, UHF and the usual recovery gear. On the list: cargo barrier, Bilstein shocks and King springs, deluxe winch bar, 10000lb winch, Lightforce 240 XGT spotlights, dual spare wheel carrier

          Hi Guys,

I don't have a Prado but like to keep up to date with whats happening with them for when it's time to trade the cruiser.
Thought I'd throw another app in the ring. I have used bitmap quite a bit but ended up going for TwoNav. Allows me to use any files so I downloaded all the 250K for Aus free from the geoscience web site and easily converted them over. Took a while for download but I have them all. Pics of the setup in my cruiser at http://bretthampson.smugmug.com/Hobb...9787775_7cq3bc
Also use 1:100K for all NSW and 1:25k for half NSW.
I have bought Gregorys maps for the MudMap app for outback travel previously, but find I use them more for reference (if at all) rather than when using the GPS in car. I find the 250k maps is the minimum I want as far as using the gps in car when travelling. With any maps such as hema etc, I still prefer to look at their books or fold outs as it gives a better overall picture while using the 250k to more accurately pinpoint things and location.

Also, when buying apps over itunes, don't forget to try to find itunes cards on discount. When I bought this app, they had it at $40, and I was able to get 2 x $20 for $30. So worked out much better than full price. Whatever you buy, keep an eye out for apps being discounted at various times during the year.

              Hi Big Dog,

I have scanned maps and put them into the twonav app. I scanned a bunch of maps from a Gregory's map book to jpg, calibrated them and merged them. Eg canning stock route was 7 different maps. The app can save them to ecw format or the rmap format twonav uses (as well as importing ozf files if that's what you have).

The pc software that can be downloaded is free for 30 days and then limited functionality after that.
I think you can also import scanned images into the bitmap app, but you have to calibrate it. Their website has details on all that.
Thing is, if ozi came out with the iPad app then we might all head over to them. But they don't seem too concerned with getting it out.
