I have heard that the latest prized stealable item is a GPS unit, especially those that have a suction cup attached to the windscreen for the theives to spot easily. This I have (unfortunately) discovered this to be true.
I had my Prado broken into recently in a Paramatta carpark. It was obvious the mongrel theives were after the GPS, as they looked in the glovebox, under the seats and in the console.
Nothing but $5.00 was stolen from the console...didn't take my CD's or the change in the ashtray.
They also tried to disable the alarm, with no effect.
Trouble is, they didn't look in my pocket!!!! (where I had the Magellen Crossover).
As I had glass coverage on my vehicle, no cost, just the hassle of getting to a windscreen place to replave the rear quarter glass in Sydney with all the TRAFFIC after dress shopping with the the missus all day.
I will now try and find a better placed mount for the GPS and I am intending to get a very loud siren to fit in the car to deafen potential theives.
I will also avoid going to Sydney, and never to Paramatta again.
