  • HN5i - Cant connect to Memory-Map PC - some help please :)

Hoping for a bit of idiot help here . Im trying to download some way points, tracks, etc from previous runs off my HN5i, however for some reason i cant get it to connect to Memory-Map installed on my PC.

In memory map I have followed the directions and changed the GPS-Type to Garmin-USB, however it still comes up with a prompt saying "cant connect to GPS". Obviously i have connected the HN5i via USB and selected the USB icon when connecting the USB cable. Additionally i have select the Sync arrows option on the screen of the Hema and then gone into Memory

The device is visible in HN5i Explorer (OziExplorer) but not im Memory Map.

Anyone able to help me out here and point out something i might be missing. I have installed Microsoft Mobile Device Center which is enabling it to connect through OziExplorer but not through Memory-Map.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ryzz,

Does Microsoft Mobile Device Center open when you connect the Hema? It may do this if you have set Microsoft Mobile Device Center to sync anything off the Hema to the PC. I had the same issue when I first gone my HN5i and had to change the default to not connect to Microsoft Mobile Device Center when the GPS first connects, may have even uninstalled Microsoft Mobile Device Center to fix the issue.

The other one I have noticed is, after running Microsoft Mobile Device Center and closing the program, I still couldn’t connect with USB and finished up rebooting to completely kill Microsoft Mobile Device Center.

When I connect my HN5i, it is set to prompt me before it will open any program and now works much better.

    Hope this helps.
