  • Touch Screen for use with Laptop GPS

    Hi All,

been a while since i've been on here.......

Anyway i am looking to fit a Touch Screen in my bus to connect directly to my Laptop as the missus is getting sick of having it on her lap!
what i want to achieve is to have the laptop running under the seat with OziExplorer, then a VGA (or if possible USB) cable direct to a 6" or 7" touch screen mounted on a plate which i will make up underneath the CD player and UHF that are currently in the DIN spaces.

I have tried all the normal shops in Adelaide but can't find anyone who sells them. Strathfield, Tonkins, Dick Smiths, Tandy, Harvey Norman and various computer shops... but no-one has them or can tell me who would.

Does anyone here know where i could find one preferrably in Adelaide so i can touch/feel it or anywhere else in Australia?

    Cheers!
    Luke

Sorry I can't help you with a supplier in SA. I got one of the cheap 7" screens from hong kong (ebay), which has worked fine.

They all use a VGA connection for the display, and a USB connection for the 'touch screen' input.

I used a pop-out of the dash 'DIN' type one, but I've seen others that used a ram-mount that clamped to the 'jesus bar' on the passenger side for mounting.

Hope the info is of some use........

Have a google for Nesavision. They have quite a few outlets in Oz. They sell what amounts to the 7 inch Lilliput screen. Think its a called a GL70N.

MP3car.com has more info than you will ever need on touchscreens and the like.

Where exactly would you mount it? Very interesting.

My question is how do they perform in direct sunlight?
