I have a Garmin GPSmap60C, bit of a compromise, but does most things well, has street level routing etc but is also a good robust waterprof handheld for wandering around in the bush, its biggest downfall is its memory or lack of, the latest version of this now has a M sd slot so you can fit all the citynavigator maps on at once.

Ryda.com have the TomTom One XL with v14 mapping & free GPS antenna for $549.95 or the TomTom GO710 discontinued model for $635.
http://www.ryda.com.au/TomTom-GPS-Navigation-s/125.htm
Is it better to go the current One XL model or the discontinued GO710 that has faster processor and bluetooth handsfree functionality but has older version of mapping.
Any thoughts?

I've got a HP ipaq rx5965. Not only do you get a fully functioning Tomtom, you also get wireless internet, email, MS office.
Ive just added memory map software with the Austour DVD pack ($249), includes Hema 4x4 maps and more.
MM will do anything a dedicated GPS unit will do.
Memory map also has topo map packs. MM has a very smooth and tight interface between PDA and PC laptop.
Ive got Oziexplorer for PDA with topo maps(free if you dig around the web), but found it difficult to run
The ipaq with MM is a top unit
i hope my experience is of some help.

Well, there I go, found another good option, just bought the Nokia 6110 Navigator
A brilliant phone, with GPS and Street navigation all built in... and whats more it was free ( on plan of course) I was going to upgrade my phone anyway and got the phone on the $49.00 per month plan, same as my old phone plan..
The unit is Great,, had fun using it in Sydney last week.
I must recommend it!!..2007 Prado D4D GXL - Waeco 50litre - Dual Batteries 105ah- Redarc Smart Start - Customline Camper Trailer(3rd 105ah battery) - 2 inch Ironman lift kit - BFG's 265/70-17
