Hutch, can I ask what you paid?? JA want $689 and eBay stores have it for $543.00.
Leon, their was a Asus my pal in at Harvey Norman at fortitude valley, it was a A63? didn't have a real big look as i decided to keep the PDA and navigation seperate as the PDA is really for Leigh's work.

      Hi Hutch,
For what it's worth, I have an ASUS MyPal A639. Bought it online in April this year from Kalk Online (in Sydney). Good service.
Had the choice of buying it with or without GPS software (ie CoPilot etc), but bought it without, as I loaded Oziexplorer on the laptop, and Oziexplorer CE on the PDA, with Hema map set - works realy well.
PDA has plenty of built in storage, bluetooth, wifi, plays music, videos etc.
      So overall I'm happy.
      Good luck with your purchase.

Problem is, the more I look into it the more gadgets I find ops:

            Hi Bes
I also traded up from a 100series six cylinder petrol (guzzler) to a D4D.. best thing i EVER did.. love those diesels! Now I also have an ASUS PDA as per post below... i got it with co-pilot which is fine for the 'burbs.. but am interested in the OziExplorer alternative.. tell me... is it really hard for a techno-dumbo like me to get to work on the PDA? Do i get it for the laptop first or something?? or do i buy the CE version just for the PDA?(see... techno-hopeless!)

              masso...

You need OziExplorer for the PC first (about $130) and then OziExp CE is about $40.00 which you then run on the PDA.

Most of the trip planning and other major stuff is done on the PC/laptop then is transferred to the PDA.

I've only just started using the base OziExp program so i'm no expert by any means but that's my understanding.

One question I have is... can Ozi mark waypoints and drop breadcrumbs like a true GPS unit?
              Cheers, Leon

                Hi Masso,

I have the V8 Cruiser, which comes off lease next July. Looking to go to diesel - new 200 series too expensive, so looking forward to a new D4D Prado - probably a GXL with some stuff.

Re the PDA, I'm no expert, so it took me a couple of hours (no more) mucking around with the correct settings on the PDA to get it working. There's info on the Oziexplorer web site specific to the PDA to help.
I have all my maps on an SD card.

As Snaga says, buy Oziexplorer for the PC, and the Ozi CE option. Once loaded on the PC, from memory there is simply an unlock code to allow installtion on the PDA.
Not sure about marking waypoints and dropping breadcrumbs - haven't tried that yet - still an Oziexplorer novice !

                Cheers, Bes.

It can do that and a whole heap more besides. There are functions available that I have never used but I have played with it a LOT and I am still discovering new things I didnt know it could do. One day I will read the manual ops: :?

                    Thanks Brissy...

I gather that's through a PDA style unit.
