eBay cheapo "everything unit" fitting and progress

ok guys , its all happening here , im flashin the cash !!!!

Sadly i decided to get rid of the flamboyant massive double din oversized prado stereo for a single din decent make unit with the usual modern inputs .....BUT then i spied a super duper el cheapo ebay EVERYTHING unit .

At $420 for GPS/TV/DVD/MP3/MP4/DIVX/SD/USB/RC ...everything , rather than a similar price for a unit that plays cd's/mp3/usb/sd . And save buying a seperate screen for the RC .

I will do a full pics fitting and review of this 1/4 price unit .

i have also just bought a reversing cam for it too (not arrived yet)

The GPS is a bonus really , i just wanted a unit that had SD, USB, played mp3 and the rev cam built in , but from china you get EVERYTHING as you know .

so over the next few days i will be posting here on the progress of this project .

Sounds good. How secure is the pop up screen would you say?? ... with all the bouncing and shaking off road.

Ok , good start , i wired the unit up to the battery to test it before pulling my dash apart.

The DVD player does not work and the GPS menu wont come up .

I have emailed the seller , so hopefully he can get it sorted quickly .

The screen seems pretty solid , not really a bonus if it doesnt work :lol:

right ... got the GPS working BUT the DVD/CD unit seems to be dead :shock:

im going through it with the sell at the mo , i reckon it will be a send back for replacement job .... starting to think if a replacement is a good idea .

:idea: i can hear the "you get what you pay for" mumbles

EDIT : its on its way back to the seller for replacment , the disc drive is dead as a door nail

Mate , its all gone pear-shaped .

I sent back the unit for replacment as it kept saying "bad disc" with every disc i put in .

Everything else worked great . The wiring took a bit of working out as the manual is really bad with broken english and contradictions eg .

But before you go buying off the seller , me and "him" are locked in a ebay dispute over fixing the item . He has had it for 11 days now and still says in the the "queue for assessment" , Which is NOT GOOD ENOUGH :evil:

So when i do get it back, i will finish this topic with a full review .

But at the moment - Stay Clear of this eBay seller .

Hey GLXV6 , i used to sell on ebay , he has 3000+ feedbacks , generally its not bad , he has just taken a completely unacceptable time to look at and return the item to me . The only thing being i got a bit mad at his slackness and launched a dispute + reported him for having fake details on file (registered phone number is a dead line which is not allowed)

He has confirmed the item was faulty and says he will send a replacment .

So i'll see how that goes :roll: i was quite excited when i posted this topic , i was going to do a chippy/mumsrig install with pics

hopefully it can go that way soon ..... we'll be on a second page before the project gets off the ground !

Based on how you are going i think the extra $$ and buying elsewhere for this type of unit might be a good idea.

Keep us all posted i think it will be interesting to hear the outcome.
