Update maps in 2010 GRJ150R VX

Hi Guys,

When I started my car (2010 GRJ150R VX) yesterday the inbuilt Sat Nav was showing a message that the maps are outdated. It shows some website url to get the maps. couldn't see the same message after few starts so not able to remember the url.

So how can I update it. Couldn't find anything in the manuals.

I need to download from that url and write to a CD/DVD and put it in the drive in dash? Is there any free update?

It is a touchscreen as shown in the figure.

Please advise. I am planning for some long drives in the Dec to Feb duration.

That doesn't look like the factory GPS screen to me, the image on the screen is different. The buttons on the right of your screen are also different so it looks like your unit is an aftermarket one.

My 2009 Kakadu has the DVD reader for the GPS under the passenger seat and you have to get the update on DVD from Navteq. The update for the factory GPS costs around $300.

It does but yours appears to have been replaced with an aftermarket one.

Ditto, that doesnt look right? Perhaps a closer picture. Or can a user with Factory Satnav post one up to compare?

I note that the hazard button is upside down. So definitely aftermarket.

Here's a picture of mine, it's a Kakadu but I assume the unit and button layout are the same as the VX.



Note I have control buttons to the left and right of the screen and my hazard light button is in the bunch on the right. Sorry it's not more clear, it's just from the dealer's ad.

Looks like I was wrong about the 2010 VX having the same GPS as the Kakadu. The below pic is of the console in a 2010 VX I found on Carsales.



From this it appears the VX has the same display and stereo as the GXL with no GPS.

Perhaps someone with a 2010 VX can tell us if the GPS was an option. In any case the one lalsyd has is not a factory unit.

Thanks guys. Its a very bad feeling that it is not a factory GPS.

I will take and post better photos once I reach home. That may help to find out the proper model and company.

Not planning to upgrade maps with $300 (maximum $100 I can spend for map update).. Will continue with the old map. I have one more stand alone TOMTOM and samsung galaxy s4 phone.

So if any issues with the current GPS I can use them to reach the proper address.

The VX only came with factory GPS as a standard feature as per Fido's photos in 2012.

It was optional in the previous models.

The GPS in your 2010 VX in definitely not standard and is an after market unit.

Hi,

Today again I saw the update warning..It says get updates from www.naviextras.com.

I couldn't find the model number of the device which is not able to find on device and no manuals as well..

How can I find the correct model number of the NAV device to get the updates from Naviextras? (The cd/dvd drive is in glove box)
