Mav, I believe it is a "caska" brand

    See website below

    http://www.coagent.cn/

The model offered by Polaris in Australia is similar to CA1615 but they also offer a CA3126 which is the "new shape" like the roadrover model. I looked into the new shape with Polaris. They told me thay can get it for the same price plus a $150 ordering fee but they said the specs on it were older (lesser??) than the standard Australian model. I ended up going for the standard model as it was too much of a leap into the unknown

I find it interesting that Polaris claim the 3126 is older given that the 3119 is no longer on Caska's website. I would have assumed it was the other way around!

        Re: Long Term Polaris owners

        Hi All,

I missed all the threads/scandal regarding the Polaris unit coz i was,nt into fitting a GPS until recently, i was looking at the Polaris & the VMS AVNC 3000, ive decided to go with the Polaris mainly due to the price, i am having the PID3119 with rear vision camera & the Hema map pack installed next week.
I have read a few reports both for & against, any feed back from any owners re-any probs, it seems good value to other units.

        Cheers

          Re: Long Term Polaris owners

Polaris was talking of adding a small charge and including Ozi for you on the same mapping card as whereis and using a selection menu to choose between the 2. Perhaps that might be of interest.
Mine has been no trouble for me for the last year or so.
The reverse camera has worked wonders too.

hi i have just recieved a text to say a free map whereis v 16 is available just send the sd card out of the unit to them and they will post the new one to you , before you do just check with polaris first.I would like to know what the off road maps are like as for me to have them installed it means a 6hour trip to Sydney or for me to remove it and send it back to them. Hi,

Yeah i have been contacted re-update too, i have been asked to send in the sd card for free up dates after i was quering info/instructions on the 4x4 mapping.
The manuals cover everthing except the off road pack, no probs with the CD for the PC, but no idea how to operate the off road navi on the unit?

                  Hi Guys,

Looks like I am going to go with a Polaris Unit also. 1 question what is the screen like for resolution? Particularly visibility by the the passenger?

                    Re: Long Term Polaris owners

                    Hi TonyO,

I Find the resolution is great no probs there at all, should be easily visible to any passengers.
My only gripe, being a none savvy GPS user is the lack of info on how to use the off road Hema map pack (optional)
Starting to get the grips a bit but would have been a bit easier with txt manual, i can use the PC disk fine but still learning on the unit.
But, very happy with the unit so far.

                    Cheers

                      Re: Long Term Polaris owners

I contact polaris, but unfortunately will cost $165 for Sensis Vs16 update, but that there is some issue with it at moment, so is your free update for a earlier version or a beta version of VS16?

Also if you want to update to hema maps you have to send back the head unit not just SD card as they need to change software. Took me too long to install to be tempted to do this right now.

                        Hi mccallum,

As far as i know my update is vs16 & i did,nt have to pay cos it was supposed to have been already released when i bought the unit, & i have noticed a problem with connecting to the GPS, i have sent email to my supplier. When i updated i just sent in the SD card.
Also connecting to blue tooth has issuse, i nearly always have to go into menu & reset auto connect

                          Re: Long Term Polaris owners

I have just installed the unit- when I spoke to Polaris they said that v16 was not ready but then rang back the next day or so and said that the unit would be supplied with v16. It is working fine except for an intermittent glitch with the clock in the GPS software re arrival time. Polaris have said send the SD card back and they will fix it no worries.

                            Hi,
I have had a Polaris fitted for three weeks and so far so good. The installers who I had put it in normally sold $3000 plus systems and they were really impressed with the Polaris as it was the first time they had fitted one.
The only issue I have is cosmetic and thats the look of the radio interface display is pretty tacky but it works.
Anyhow, how do you check what version software you have?
Also does anyone know the HArdware settings for the GPS. In my playing with the system I inadvertently pressed the autodetect GPS Hardware and have lost the settings required to make it work.

A quick phone call to Polaris should get this worked out for you, they seem pretty good with customer service.

Does the polaris 3119 have AV in so that I can plug in my portable media player?
