  • Whereis 14 for Avic- HD3

Does anyone know if whereisv14 is available for the Pioneer Avic-HD3?
I checked the website but I could'nt find any info on it, also it seems a bit pricey at around $350.
Would you not be entitled to the latest version for free if you'd only just bought the actual unit? ( I only ask as my house doesnt exist on the version I have )

Where can you find the version no.?
The website definatley says v13 installed.

Also the whereis website states that v14 is up to date with the 2007 UBD, well my house isnt on there yet its been built for 3 years!
Whereas v13 is correct up until November 2005, which would seem about right.
I did notice that the sticker on my box where the serial is says 'November 2007' so maybe I have old stock.

        Hey Richo,
as you've had yours for awhile I wondered if you could answer this for me.
When using the keyboard how do you get lower case letters?

that's a very good question which I don't know the answer to either.
I kinda think it can't be done. I've tried everything and can't find any reference to it anywhere.
It annoys the crap outta me when ripping DVD's that aren't in the database. The only way I found around this was to rip a copy of the DVD with iTunes and turning on the "include CD text" option. This will then be priority over the database and will also be exactly as the text in iTunes (ie: lower case)
A bit of a pain but the only way I could get that to work.

As far as lower case in the address book or waypoints, I find the same thing. When sending contacts from my phone I found that they will be upper/lower case but not when entering manually.

you would think there is a way to do this but i haven't been able to work it out

Guys I found this reference to the features missing on the HD3 which may be of note to you:

"Also, I've done a little more research into the HD3 Vs. Z2 question. On top of the obvious differences with different maps and different POI's specific to the area, the manuals indicate the AVIC-HD3 is MISSING the following Z2 features:

            Telephone search
            All NavTraffic features
            Emergency Info feature
            City View
            Language selection
All of the features introduced in the Z1 to Z2 upgrade, including:
ability to show or hide address book icons on Nav screen
a few new alternate voice commands
            lower-case letters on keyboard
New routing option "avoid roads with time restrictions" (like draw-bridges)
2D and 3D twin view selectable from Map Mode screen
            3D landmarks in 3D view (there's only 3)
NavTraffic event icons have smaller icons when zoomed out
a few new bluetooth address book options
            Changeable Splash screen
Also, it appears the default Vinicinity Search POI Shortcuts are different.

Other than that, they're the same unit, as far as I can tell."

              Cheers Mav,
the lack of lower case keys is unbelievably slack, like Richo says its annoying to look at your music library and see all those capital letters.
(I'll try the ipod trick, sounds good)
Maybe Pioneer will do some sort of software update at some point.
