  • VMS GPS / Screen

    Hello

I am about to buy a new prado and was going to get the toyota navigation screen but have found and heard about the VMS GPS unit/screen.

    http://www.vms4x4.com/

Can anyone give me some feedback on what this unit is like? and what would be better option to fit?

Also do the steering wheel controls (volume, skip, mode) still work when you replace it with the VMS unit

    Cheers
    Brent

a few here have mentioned it and there's been some speculation but i don't think anyone actually has one.

quick search for "polaris" "roadrover" or "headunit" will bring up heaps of results with plenty of info.

i went with a cheap chinese one, does everything i need.

Please place your location in your profile.

I also suggest familiarising yourself witht the rules which are located here.

In particular double threads are frowned upon, you will also find this topic has been covered a number of times and the search button may find the information you seek. I am not sure if the VMS has been covered before though.

        Hi Brent

Depends on what you are looking for. I was after a Satnav with audio and phone and the VMS meets my requirements.

You can run Route 66 for all your around town type needs and Oziexplorer with Natmap, Hema, Rooftop or anyother map that Oziexplorer will run for all your off-road needs.

You can plan a route in ozi with waypoints, tracks, download and upload routes etc etc.

All data and mp3 music etc is loaded on SD card therefore no moving parts other that the fan. To quote VMS "the AVNC is suitable for all SDHC cards regardless of the size". I am currently running mine with a 2gb card but will be upgarding to 16 or 32 gb card
The steering wheel controls I believe can be made to work with the addition of a PAC interface box http://www.pac-audio.com/products/produ ... 0Interface
but i dont find the loss of these a big deal as the screen is a touch screen

You can read more on the VMS on GPS-OZ site here http://gpsoz.freeforums.org/vms-avnc-f4.html
