Hi all, We are currently looking at a new system for a trip around oz, and just wondering what options are out there we are currently looking at a hema navigator but a bit pricey. We are upgrading from a megallan crossover not too bad but there has to be better and it's not mac compatible so we can't list way points or trip reviews from our laptop on our trip. Thanks

Re: navigation systems
Don't buy it, it's very poor value for money.
4.3" GPS with software on SD Card $300.00 (Just checked Ebay $180-250)
Card Reader $20.00
2 GIG SD Card $20.00
Ozi Explorer $40.00
1:250000 maps Free download from Pradopoint or http://www.ga.gov.au (use Ozi trial version to import)
Total Cost $380.00
Gives you the same result.Snowy

Re: navigation systems
Snowy,
Bit off the topic....
Interesting avitar you are using... you do know it's a NAZI SS unit insignia (Hitlers bodyguard unit):?: and a unit that committed war crimes at that :?:

Re: navigation systems
Wondering how long it may take somebody to recognise that. First SS Panzer Grenadier divisional insignia, yes it is, it's also the Dietrich family symbol.
War crimes, yes but Commonwealth, US and Russian forces also participated in warcrimes, and it really depends on whose propaganda your reading at the time. Do you wish it removed? No dramas if you do, I got bored with my Prado sitting in my front yard.
Edit "Too late removed it anyway, replaced with Senna's 1986 Lotus Renault"Snowy

Re: navigation systems
Hi Pradopup,
You will need a card reader/writer about $20 from a Dick Smith or the like.
Download Oziexplorer for Windows CE. From http://www.oziexplorer.com/ (go to the OziexplorerCE page)
Should be the wince_core-runtime_arm.zip it's only 3.7MB, not a big download.
Make a new folder on your desktop called Oziexplorer, then unzip the download to the folder you just created.
Copy and paste this entire folder to your SD card using the card reader.
I am not familiar with your GPS, check with Mickl on how to access the file using the Binatone GPS.
You need to go through the menus in OZi to link it up with the GPS to get it talking to Ozi.
Now you need some maps.
Looks like the converted map download links on Pradopooint are dead.
You can do the following, it takes a while, but if you only do WA it should not take long.
1. Download the .ecw file from http://www.ga.gov.au
2. Import to Oziexplorer (Trial version will do it)
3. Convert to .ozf format using the "image to .ozf tool" downloaded
from the WINCE page on the Ozi website. (Note: this takes a few hours to convert all of QLD). This proces makes the two files.
Load onto the map folder in Ozi on your SD card then you are away.
CheersSnowy
