Go to the top level of the iGo8 folder and open it and you should find a data.zip file - Browse this file with winzip. You should find a "ui_igo8" folder, browse into this and you will find the supported resolutions. The version I have here, shows it will run 800x480 which is about twice the resolution that you have Mick in your sys.txt.
Another thing to try is add this to your config file
highres=0.

eg something like this might display a little better:
[rawdisplay]
screen_x=800
screen_y=480
highres=0

The version that is shipped might be a little different to what I have here (iGO 8.3.2.83157)
See how you guys go, otherwise Ill try it on mine when it gets here

EDIT: It may be better to try these two suggestions separately rather then both at once.

I installed my unit last night. All working pretty well.

Tried the above text - no good. Running it at a higher res cuts off the images, and the highres didnt seem to make much difference. 480x234 seems to be the best res available.

A few things I noticed:
like Mick said, if you select the radio for example, you can hold down the Band/Navi button and the unit will play the radio while running the GPS. You can change radio station by holding down the band button again to bring you back to the radio to change station, and holding it again will bring you back to GPS.

Another thing I noticed was the ipod interface was working for me, although not the best with my 24 month old ipod 80gb classic. Although i can browse through the ipod and play songs etc, the unit seems to lock up for about 45 seconds before I am able to select another song. At 45 seconds the screen seems to refresh somewhat and then I can make a selection. Is this what others experience?

The steering controls work OK with this unit, only problem is the < > on the steering wheels on the factory unit used to change preset stations (eg from FreshFM, to Nova, to Triple M), but with the TP09X1 these buttons will move up the am/fm spectrum by 10kHz, or if you hold the < or > button down on the steering wheel it will scan for next broadcasting station. I think this was somewhat mentioned earlier in this thread.

Do people leave the screen protector on? :?

Hi Switched,

Yes my iPod interface behaves the same way. I have an 80GB Classic that is nearly 2 years old, so looks like we share the same problem. I have emailed Matt (dig_options) regarding this but yet to hear back. I'll post any information that comes to hand.

• Re: Dig_Options TP09X1 GPS, Reviews & Information

I have copied OziexplorerCE program onto the SD as advised. I was fortunate to get a copy of all oziexplorer raster maps on a CD. The CD contains all the .map files as well as .Ozf2 files. Is this the correct file format I need to copy into the maps folder on the SD card or do I need to convert them to .Ozfx3 file format.

I have also created seperate sub folders in the maps directory for each state, I am assuming once I set the file path name in the GPS to look in the maps directory it will also look in the sub directories under maps as well (automatically) or do I need to set a new path for each sub folder. Can anyone please advise

Many Thanks

No .Ozf2 works with CE version 1.10.8 to current, .Ozfx3 is a newer file format that only works on CE versions after 1.12.0 and desk top Ozi 3.95.4i or later.

Not sure on this one... I have sub folders as well but but am not sure if it will find them automatically. Might be one to play around with and let us know... or shoot James(our resident Ozi expert) a PM

EDIT- had a quick look this morning, you have to set each folder pathway in the CE configuration settings.

Mine is the same as well guys (early '07 80gig classic).

Installed mine last week as well, easy install apart from trying to fit the dash back in with all of the wires, and I was pretty excited to see this thing in operation; but I have some concerns that I am hoping someone maybe able to solve easily.... :?: :?: :?:

1. as soon as the bluetooth function is activated, I get feedback through the stereo speakers and people on the other end complain about the bad voice clarity from me - does it with both my phone (nokia) and the missus (motorola razor).

2. bluetooth drops out intermittently - disconnects from the phone and hangs up on people!! not sure if this is a head unit problem or phone problem because it has only done it with mine so far - Nokia 6120 classic. I am not running the latest phone software, but I will upgrade it over the next few days and see if it changes.
:?

3. apart from the above mentioned problem with the ipod control, I have noticed that the ipod is not being charged either - has anyone else noticed this?

I also have the rear view camera and digTV to install, but I wanted to make sure the unit was doing everything it was meant to first. All other functions operate as expected and previously talked about!!!!

Cheers

I suspect some of the problems may be the 6120 classic. My wife has this phone and it is a pain in the B*## when it comes to Blue Tooth even with the standard Toyota Unit. The easist way for her to connect is to turn her phone off then on when she gets into the car. Often it sounds like she is talking underwater. My phone (Nokia 6500 Slide) on the other hand seems to work perfectly with the standard Toyota unit.

We have tried upgraded the software on the phone but it makes little difference.

Cheers Neil

For Ozi Explorer CE users you can download OziCE Sreen designer from Ozi web site, put your micro SD card from your unit in a card reader and "load" the file "Landscape 480w x 234h.par1" from your card, then you can edit each page to your own requirements and save it back to your card , I've used Ozi for years and introduced it to Country Fire Authority in Vic (they have since created their own specialised program along Ozi lines) the thing I needed was position display in UTM (Universal Transverse Mercator) as thats the grid used on most maps (1Km grids). I have got 2 seamless maps in .Ecw format that cover Victoria in 1:100,000 detail so Ive added a box in the top RH corner that displays the grid in 6 Digit format "UTM 100m Grid" so now I can quote my position at fires directly from the display. This would also help if anyone is using the Spacial Vision map book used by all emergency services in Victoria or any map using UTM Grids.

Does any one tell me how to turn off the start up, (eg )the car picture and other pages that come on at start up? Can course up be selected on 2D in non nav mode as it shows the car going across the screen i would like map with the car going to top of the screen ? My old Polaris had a fan in the back for cooling but this one does not, hope things dont overheat. Install much harder than the old unit , i had some small issues with screws stipping in the mount, and am a bit concerned about the two plugs at the rear rubbing on the cross bar and shorting out. Is there a visual screen when radio or cd playing all i seem to get is the toyota logo, unlike the polaris which had 5 different graphics to choose ? Screen readable is much better and have taken off the sun shield i made for the old unit, Only finnished install today . Randy

Hey guys,
My apologies for no response. I'm chasing a couple of small questions like this. I'll hassle the engineers again and hopefully have something helpful within the next couple of days.
Thanks for your patience,
Donna
Hi Donna, thanks for this. Just quickly a few little other things you could ask your supplier.

I have a nokia e71 and using the bluetooth I find that I nearly have to have the stereo volume up flat out just to hear the other end, so much so that when the call switches back to the radio after the call has ended, i nearly sh!t myself .
Second other question: My iPod issues are above, but another thing Ive noticed on mine is that the ipod level sounds distorted. I have the ipod on the lowest volume level and I figure the gain on the amplifier is saturating the audio and overdriving it a little. My iPod has the latest firmware ( I cant recall it off hand but could get it to you if you like). My ipod level on other devices eg Computer, old toyota stereo etc are all OK.
Thanks again

Whet one are you talking about? the TP09x1 start up or Igo8 software start up screens?

am a bit concerned about the two plugs at the rear rubbing on the cross bar and shorting out
The only issue I can see is the Ipod plug... all the others clear on mine, Don't think there will be any issues though as there are no sharp/square edges to cause damage.

Is there a visual screen when radio or cd playing all i seem to get is the toyota logo
Yes, you can see the radio screen in the pictures earlier in this thread.
Try doing a system reset if you are still having issues.

Can course up be selected on 2D in non nav mode as it shows the car going across the screen i would like map with the car going to top of the screen ?
Yes, mine is in course up (was by default) have a look in the set up menus.

Regarding the sideways problem.
The problem may be with your sys.txt.

Open your ig08 folder.

You will see sys.txt.

is it done on the headunit or do you have to put the card in a reader and do it on the computer then put the card back in the head unit?

Yes my iPod interface behaves the same way. I have an 80GB Classic that is nearly 2 years old, so looks like we share the same problem. I have emailed Matt (dig_options) regarding this but yet to hear back. I'll post any information that comes to hand.

Hi Shane,

Because your model iPod is more recent than the 1st or 2nd generation, please use the AUX inputs to control your iPod. My apologies for this. We're currently working on improving this and will hopefully be able to offer a firmware update sometime in early 2010.

BR
Matt

Hi Darwinite,

Sorry for the delayed response. For the iPod, please use the AUX inputs. It's not ideal as you'll have to control from the iPod but we are working on an update.

I've fired off an email about the bluetooth problem. If we can't resolve, we'll have to get a replacement unit to you.

Please email me at [email protected]

Hi Randy, I actually had one of my recommended installers say the same thing about the cabling.
Guys, do you suggest I try to get a straight plug set included instead of a right angle plugset?
Thanks,

I had to pare the 90 degree plug down to give the wiring on the AV connector enough flexibility to clear the bar.
Thats interesting, I had no issues at all with the other plugs and have at least a 10mm gap between the bar and the bottom corner of the unit.
I put the digital box in today and while I had the unit out again I trimed the ipod plug as described by the others and the unit went back in first go! should have done this in the first place.

Do you have any installers in Perth and what would the total cost work out at?
Maybe one of the other members could help you out :?: (good excuse for a tech day  )

I installed my digital tuner today. I installed it in a different location to Oldsalt, I did this for a number of reasons, one of which is I wanted the unit out of sight (I won't be using it that much that I need regular access to the usb port)

As I posted earlier the unit looks well made and comes well packaged and is only let down by the instruction book.

It's a simple three wire connection, which you may as well do at the loom for the gps unit as you need to access the rear of it to plug in the AUX RCA plugs.

I mounted the tuner in the glove box with a bit of double sided tape, to do this I has to cut a little of the plastic away surrounding the area where the CD changer goes in the Grande. A sharp knife (Olfa or Stanley knife) does the job easily.
I put a hole near the rear of the compartment with a hole saw to run the loom thru.

As Oldsalt mentioned the antenna is left a little wanting, even in metro Adelaide (I'm 20ks from the CBD) While I picked up all the TV and Radio channels a few of them were pixelating. Will see how Oldsalt goes with the amplified antenna and may get one myself.

The above pictures really don't do the screen image justice. The picture was crystal clear and sharp in image and colour, I was quite surprised at the quality of it really. You can see by looking at the unit buttons that the camera was slightly out of focus when I took these.
EDIT- Just found you can pause live TV which would have made for better pics!
