My system has just decided to reset the Radio and Time when ever I switch teh key off..

It has then decided to only turn on with the main knob... Tried multiple re sets and after 2 hrs of playing, it looks like it is working for the moment....

Would be nice to be able to hard code the default radio stations... I can handle re setting teh clock.. But 5 bands of radio stations is a right pain.

BT and every thing else is OK... Just the radio...

Has any one been able to directly access the OS and or settings...... Via a laptop or via the remote... I am sure there must be a service code; not unlike teh Steering Wheel config.

        Michael.. Good point..

IGO8 and TomTom... I need assistance with Upgrading IGO8 and or getting TomTom to work..

Have not yet had a look at Ozi Explorer, as I usually only do beach work...

I have been using the IGO8 8.00.35389 and Map 080318 that came installed and while OK... A little out of date. In addition I have tried IGO* previously and never found that it was able to outperform TomTom.

I have been advised that there is a later version of IGO 8.3.xxx that works.... and has newer Maps...

Q1: For general use, what Map software do you have installed / Recommend for use on your TP09X1

        1: IGO8 xxxx
        2: TOMTOM
        3: Other

And If you have a newer version of IGO8 and or have been able to get Tom-tom installed..

I would be interested to hear from you,
as while I have a licensed Tom Tom which I purchased with my PDA a few years ago and only recently upgraded my maps; I have been unable to get it installed on my TP09X1. (Note: The TPO9X1 is my replacement for my old Tom-Tom unit, which has been having MAJOR battery issues and no longer supported.)

Note: I would only move (purchase) to IGO8 if it can be demonstrated that it out performs TomTom as I already own it... Just can't install it...

        Thanks

        Hi Mark,

I did type up a bit of a reply for you last week, but then something messed up when I hit 'submit' and it dissapeared into the mists. Of course as Chippy mentioned we've been out bush over the long weekend here.

Anyhow, back on topic. I have upgraded my IGO to a slightly newer version (8.0.0.88902 - Approx Jan 2009). Very few differences from the provided version though. Personally I prefer TomTom for on street navigation, but I honestly rarely use it. For me the TP09X1 is for using Ozi, I know my way around Perth.

You could upgrade to IGO 8.3, but the maps used by 8.0 are not compatible with 8.3. The last time I looked into it (July 2009), there wasn't any good street maps for Australia compatible with 8.3. Maybe there are some now, I don't know.

You will have an issue getting TomTom for the TP09X1 as TomTom usually runs on operating systems based on a variety of Unix, not Windows software. It has been available on some Windows based devices (PDA's), but often lags somewhat behind the regular/unix versions. There is a difference between software intended for PDA's and 'consumer' hardware running WindowsCE. Software that must be installed, as opposed to copied over, can't run on the TP09X1. (Hence the different versions of OziExplorerCE available. OziCE is available in different versions for PDA and CE5).

This doesn't help you much, as I use the navigation mainly for offroad/oziexplorer, not turn-by-turn around town. I thought it might provide you with some more information anyway.

          Hi Michael,
I can't really answer your questions on the iPod touch as such. It does work with my ipod classic but there are still a few bugs with both the ipod and a few other areas that I'm hoping to get ironed out with the seller (Matt), but these are nothing major.

He advised us earlier that he was hoping to get a firmware upgrade out early in the new year to address some of these issues.. it might be worth checking with him on this.

Also is there anyone on the Brisbane North or inner area that is happy to let me have a look at the unit in their car? His only real gripe so far is that the sensitivity of his radio is not as good as his old factory fitted stereo. The 95 series does not have the preamp that the 120's have with the window antenna so he is considering puting a pre amp in. Otherwise he loves it.

            Neil

edit: Forgot to say he runs a 4 generation IPOD Nano. Controls all work fine but it does not charge of the cable in standard configuration. He is looking at a patch to fix this.

              Thanks for getting back...

1: I am exploring an option that will allow me to run my version of TomTom... It is the initial install that has been the pain.. Will keep ya posted.

2: Was more interested in updated maps and how to install... As to IGO8, but as the version supplied is a Demo / Eval it may not be worth the hassle

3:However, while I only do beach work at present.. The OziExplorer option sounds like it is worth following up on... Will need to look at it and see what is available for Fraser and Morton Island...

Once again... Thanks for teh heads up..

Now just waiting form my PradoPoint.com stickers

Hi Randy, I followed your link and the first thing I noticed was that the unit you pointed out is not GPS and in USD. Also, it's dimensions are 178(W)x102(H), the TP09X1 dimensions are 200mm x 105mm. I also noticed that the fascia is different. I personally think our pricing is more than reasonable given the quality of components used, warranty and equally important, the aftersales service we offer. Please feel free to PM me if you are disatisfied with the TP09X1 with your suggestions that will allow us to improve the product.

I also had a look and at some of teh feedback.. Yep it's cheep.... Very cheep... Free postage is a bit iffy as well... Had a mate and his arrived with a weight of 100g on the postage box... On pick up the postage people slugged him a corrected amount...

As my wife is fond of saying... If it's too good to be true, then re think...

I mean ya can go too expensive... But if that teh case - then ya go full Toyota brand

PS. Matt, if an upgrade to the OS / System was to be available... Is there a rear port / connection that can be used to update / re flash the system ?? Now that would put the TPO9X1 right out in front... And allow for changes such as new ipods / Iphones to be supported..

                Just a thought
Hi Comp.dad, updates are certainly possible via the USB. Right now, if a customer requires another logo I provide a file that updates the logo via the USB port. We're saving up $ for the firmware update as it is quite costly. But yes it's certainly possible. I have all our customers email addresses on file so when/if the software becomes available, we will notify everyone as to where to download.

                  Hi all,

Just thought that I would input my 5 cents worth. We have just spent all of September travelling from Brisbane to Uluru. We travelled through SA and into the NT along some of the rougher tracks including the Oodnadatta and Strizlecki. Both very rough and corrugatted. We also were unfortunate enough to get stuck in the middle of that monster dust storm around Arkaroola in SA. It was that bad that I couldn't see the bullbar on the front of the poor old Prado. Anyway to the point, the TP09X1 performed brilliantly with no reported faults. I am very happy with the unit and IG0 appeared pretty accurate. The same can not be said for the roof mount DVD player (cheapy ebay) that decided to fail half way through the trip. Thanks Matt and Donna for a great product.

                  Higgsee. :P

                    Guys,

Does anyone know if it is possible to pair the bluetooth function with more than 1 phone? So far I can only get it to "recognise" one phone or the other at any one time.

                    Cheers,

                    Dave

Some quick questions for the TP09X1.

1 - Does it play iPod video?

2 - Can you save tracks in the street nav mode?

3 - if yes for #2 do you have to get out of the unit and save the track before you turn off the key or does it continue when you restart the car until you save at the end of the day (for example). I find this a real pain with the VMS unit as I either lose my tracks or end up with 37 tracks for a weekend drive.

                        TIA,

                        Simon

Yes it does save tracks in street navigation mode....
Go to settings and go to tracklog option.there you
can activate autologog make sure you increase the
memory a bit. It records evrything and later you can
                            also replay waht it loged....
As with the ipod what i have done i have connected it to
the digital tv rc cables and watch the video thruogh the
auxilary cable. At the moment tvreception is no good..

                            hope it helps.......
