i cannot use the tts voices(susan). i am using the australian jennifer voice
and the accent is aussie....the ttsloq file is very big (125mb...)

the problem is that our unit has 64mb od sdram and 128mb of storage.
if there was a way of increasing the sdram to 128mb there are some fantastic skins to
    use....
You could be onto something.... I'm using tts and it hesitates badly along with the map refresh issues I'm having. I wonder if the size of the file is causing the hang ups.....I'll change it tomorroe and see if it improves things.

        Hey Prado Pointers,
We are in the process of re-writing the instruction manual and wondered if anyone could suggest areas that you feel should be included that would benefit customers. For example:
        Detailed wiring diagram
        Information on updating map software

        How about Ozi instructions?

        Cheers,
        Matt

          Hi Matt,

Not sure if it is already on the current user manual but it would be good to show which features can be operated simultaneously by the unit, and any combinations that are possible.

          Eg:
          - Listening to radio while using the GPS
          - Playing a movie to an external screen while using GPS

I've been holding off on buying such units because I'm looking for one that can play movies off my hard drive based media player, output the video to the screens for the kids in the back seat and have the GPS operate at the same time. I also want the video to show up on the unit so that my wife can navigate through the menus to select the movies, and then return back to the GPS.

            Hi there,
Right now playing movies from a hard drive is possible with our digital set top box. We are addressing this and will launch a higher spec model soon which will retail at $1300 plus postage. This unit also has 2 x USB inputs and can play ipod/iphone video.

I've been having some trouble with Igo8. It's slow to refresh map screens and items such as roads, poi's and street names keep dropping on and off the map screen.

I also get the odd "out of memory" error on start up. (WindowsCE text box)

OziExplorer and Navpol run without issue.

I'm running Igo 8.3.4.xxxx (Aug 2009 build) and R17 maps (although I have the same issue with my older R16 maps)

              Any ideas?
After checking the crash log I found; "0mb memory free"

Cleaned out Igo of all the add ons I'd added and am now running just the standard 8.3.4.xxxx and R17 maps. No extra skins or tweaks. Seems to be running fine, will test over the next few days.

                  hi
if you are running standard 8.3.4 with r17 maps there is no problem.
but when you use skins as i do then there are memory problems....
you see with every map upgrade the maps, poi, get bigger.
                  for example:
-the sensis r16 maps are good only for major cities and towns but not good for localities..
if you look for a depot beach (nsw) address it does not list it.
The same for mericcumbene near araluen.
-the navtech maps are better for country areas but not the best for major cities.
So what i did is have two copies if igo one sensis r16 and one with the navtech maps.
i had no problems using skins and tts voices...
the sensis r17 maps are good for both city and country...now depot beach and merricumbene
are listed..hence the bigger map and poi file.....which means i cannot use tts voices with any of the skins.
i personally' like using skins they make igo much better and more userfriendly..i like jenniffer's voice which is australian
these are my findings......if only matt can increase the ram to 128mb.....

                  Nick.....

                    Hi Mav,
I appreciate your patience. We have placed a decent size order which has taken longer than anticipated to produce. We've added minor tweaks like external bluetooth mic which has held things up and we attempted to source a high quality 8GB SD card (low quality can lose mapping) but have decided to be on the safe side and bring in a proven high quality 4GB and do a running change. When I have the tracking details of the shipment I can update you. Then it's a matter of getting them in, adding our switch screen, a trial version of Ozi and 1:250K mosaic Natmaps 2008 and it's all ready. Really appreciate your support and understand how painful it can be waiting for something like this.
                    Cheers,
                    Matt

Does anyone have a digital copy of the Australian Topo 1:100000 series?
I have all the NT SA and some Qld and WA maps, but I need the index to select the ones that I want to convert as opposed to converting the lot to .ozf format to save space on the SD card.

Please PM if you can help.

Thanks for the update Matt, I can live with my old RoadRover for a while longer but I need to update it soon as the Navigation package is so out of date it is no longer useful. The specially coded Route66 that RoadRover contracted Route66 in China to code for their chipset is not support by Route66 and as such they have only released one map update in 2.5 years and I could not tell any difference between the update and the original map.

I hope your new model will support popular navigation packages that have map upgrades readily available?

                        Cheers

This new one has a 600MHZ ARM processor (not MIPS which is your problem) so it will take a standard map.
I believe Sygic also offer a MIPS map so that could help you find a map for your system?? Unsure where you could get it though.

Thanks Matt that is good to know, can you reveal what the nav program is that it will ship with? Please tell me it is not Route66 as they use Nateq maps which are hopeless out here in the bush. I would rather have the option of Tom Tom software that maps can be easily purchased and are constantly updated.

Mav, ummmm, Navteq (Sygic)... So you would prefer Sensis? I'll see what I can do. I'm looking at a program called Polnav as is can bring the cost down USD32 and I think it's a good piece of software. Thoughts anyone? With this one they are a smaller company and would be willing to use Sensis however Sensis data is a lot more expensive for the software developer. I have heard of people running tomtom on the TP09X1. This one uses win ce 6.0 so I couldn't see a problem with it doing the same thing.
