  • I'm pretty sure its the premium unit. Its not the TP09X1, its the AVN... one.

I seem to have pretty decent radio reception. Its really the only part of the whole system i have absolutely no complaints about! I am writing Matt an email and see if he can shed some light on my issues.

      • Ok, spoke to Matt, and he is very helpful. The button lights were an easy fix. I wasnt pressing the right button. Its not in the system menu, its in the source menu.

I'll change the iPod to an aux in, and found a way to get the screen even brighter.

The problem with other buttons coming up mite be a touch alignment problem. I will get a stylus and calibrate it proerly, instead of using my finger!

So with a few of these small gripes over, I'm back to being happy again!! For the money, you really cant go wrong!

Next step will be working up to get the effort to put the reversing camera in....

        • Now this looks interesting.
The dealer we are getting the car from tried to sell us a set of reversing sensors for $600.
this looks a way better option for the VX.

I noticed in posts there is a prado point group price, if that's still the case could some one PM it to me.
I'll see if I can convince my wife it's a good idea.

Can I clarify a few things.
Can the on road maps be updated?
Is the off road navigation in topo maps and they come with it?

          • Chris,
To PM MAtt direct would be the best way to go. That way he can discuss your wants and needs as there are a few different options and extras... a couple of reversing cameras to choose from, headrest screens for the kids and he also has tyre pressure monitoring systems

                • Guys, I have a couple of free samples of radio boosters... Not sure if they will work but keen to find out and help our existing customers at the same time. One thing i found after chatting with our installer is that on the antenna cable from your vehicle there is a wire that runs alongside that (from the antenna). This must be grounded - you probably worked this out already. With the booster we were able to get AM 774 in a garage which was not previously possible.

                  • Hi All

Got a unit from matt last week and had installed by an installer recomended by Matt in Perth, as I'm not as technically savvy as most of you guys.

For all you in WA, the guy took less than 2.5hours in install (even after removing the existing Parrot Bluetooth) reversing camera etc , he has a mobile service, came to my workplace and had me up and running for a reasonable price - says he does quite a few of these unit installs and got it down pat.

No problems with radio reception FM or AM and recon sound quality improved with this unit.

Noticed the GPS on road programme installed is IGO 8 and did not come with a user manual. Found this link to help out and give you an idea of the feel of the GPS programme

                    http://www.gpsmap.com.ua/support/man...rManual_UK.pdf

Ive never had GPS unit before, but maps are accurate what Ive seen and quite a bit of Perth info for service stations etc seems right. Yet to go out into the country areas, but very happy for the price paid

                    Cheers

I have been absent for a while but I thought I would jusst chime in and maybe help out some people. If your unit is a rebadged Road Rover then you can actually run MP3, Satnav and DVD movies to rear screens at the same time. I have been using my Road Rover like this for a few years now. The trick is that once you load the DVD you have to use the remote control to get it going, you cannot do it from the front panel controls. This will allow you to use all three functions at once. If you try to start the DVD from the front panel buttons then swap over to the SatNav it will pause the DVD, all you need to do is hit play on the remote to get it going again.

Hope this helps out anyone wanting to use the unit in this config.

                      • Well I installed my AVN11TP unit a few months ago and have been mostly ignoring the parts I don't understand until now. I decided tonight to work out a few of the things I don't understand how to do.

When i installed it, the Radio was easy, ABC programmed on the AM band, nothing else needed there.
                        Playing CD's, easy.
                        Street navigation, fairly simple.
DVD's dont know dont care dont want to know.
reverse camera hooked up and works fine.

listening to the radio while running the navigation, I have just spent 3 hours trying to work this out and still have absolutely NFI how to do it, I got the email from Matt about this, I watched his (useless) you tube video, I looked through the manual, I read the last 5 pages of this thread and still am none the wiser.

OZI explorer, seems like it would be a lot smarter to have this installed properly when the unit is purchased. I have looked at the website as recommended http://www.oziexplorer.com/ and then oziexplorerCE and getting started. Obviously you need to be a computer genius to install this system, I barely understand a thing they are saying on the entire page.

I also find the screen on the unit to be completely useless during the day as I can't see a damn thing.

                        Cheers Andrew

                        • Hi all,

Taken delivery of my AVN11TP (at least that's what I assume it is, can't actually see that model number anywhere), and am planning to install it tomorrow. I have trawelled through all of the pages in this thread, so hopefully have some idea of what will be required.

The unit has 2 micro SD slots. As I understand it the LH slot is used for navigation software, so I assume that this is where I will put all the Ozi Explorer stuff etc. The RH slot is for 'media'? I'm guessing I could put all my music files there...

                          A couple of questions then:

                          1. Will these slots take any size card - I have seen that people have successfully used 8GB ScanDisk cards - anyone tried 16GB or 32GB?

                          2. If I did put a heap of music on a card, what is the interface for playing them from this like? Can I sort by album, artist etc, create play lists? Or alternatively, could I load an application such as MediaMonkey and run that to access these files?

I'm sure there will be more questions as I start to explore this unit (assuming I can install it and get it going!).

                          Thanks

I got my unit installed 2 months ago. in to an 04 prado. Got someone else to do it. Better that way, less agro for me. The left slot you refer to is for the navigation MICRO SD card thet comes with the unit. Put it in and it should play straight away. Havent tried the offroad map yet. Before I purchased the unit I punished hell out of Matt in regards to info. He definitely knows his products. The DVD works like a treat. Extremely clear picture . HD. Mine works all the time , .If you want ,to get a USB and download movies in AVI FORMAT and plug it in. Got more movies than a video shop on mine..and it plays in surround sound. Works perfectly. Sure beats carrying DVDs around. I have an 8 gig USB in at the moment works perfect. You can also download music instead of movies. Word of advice. Only put either movies on in 1 format or Music not both on the same USB.. The unit has trouble with 2 different files on 1 USB. . but why bother with music whsn you can have an IPOD. I am going tio try a larger USB with movies soon.. Cant see why it wont work. I have the IPOD CLASSIC 80gig plugged in to handle the music. Charges and works brilliantly. As for the Satnav. Go through the menu and select SUSAN for the voice. This setting says street names and also select speed option. Tells you when you are speeding LITTERALLY. Am more than impressed with this . I have a Garmin 3790T and I would say the car unit is better. The screen has 3 brightness settings on the main page with the icons. its the little SUN in the bottom of the screen.Just repeatedly press this to get the setting you want. When you turn the headlights on it dims. Annoying at dusk so thats when this setting comes in handy. The unit has a bad fault and that is the glare at a certain time of the day. Can be annoying. Is ok if you have the radio on. and the satnav playng in the background in voice only mode. Works fine. To get 2 thigs going at once select the 2 ZONE icon at the top right side of the screen. This allows you to select any 2 fuctions to work at the same time. you just have to select from the menu once you press that icon. To do it with the satnav, simply selsct the satnav button then as it boots up select 2 ZONE on the screen. then you select the other thing to work with the satnav. Have a fiddle with the unit. Its very forgiving. You can also adjust the sound levels so it plays balanced when you go from one function to the other without being deafened or going quiet.. Pressi the ON /OFF button when the unit is on and then press the the NEXT button. It has like an equaliser that you can balance between everything for each icon. Works perfectlty. The bluetooth is fantastic. Sound quality is SUPERB AND YYOU DONT NEED TO YELL. I am considering getting another unit for my wifes car, she said it was a waste of money but she had to use my car for a few weeks and I can tell you she has it worked out perfectly, She got her car back and then admitted that it was a good buy. The other thing I forgot to mention was the reverse camera. The unit came with the basic camera. For a basic camera it sure works well and has a good picture quality. KEEP IN MIND. THE UNIT IS CHINESE. but arent they all? IT HAS LIMITATIONS, BUT I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT IT SURE GIVES THE NAMED BRAND UNITS A RUN FOR THE MONEY. IT SURE IS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY . I HAVE NO HESITAIONS IN RECOMENDING MATT, HIS BUSINESS AND THE UNIT TO ANYONE. JUST BE PATIENT AND HAVE A GOIOD PLAY WITH THE UNIT. You will be surpised at what it can do. I was. I forgot to mention that with the IPOD it displays names on the main screen while playing and the main screen is also the way you select music. The remote control is very handy. Sure beats looking at the screen. The CD player also displays names when playing. The USB with VIdeos on it does the same. Never tried the other USB slot. why bother. The balance contol for the sound by pressing the ON/OFF BUTTON while the unit is on, that brings up the balance section and then when you press the NEXT button that brings up the sound balnce equilizer for each icon. Simply play each on and adjust accordingly. Abit of a fiddly thing but the results are worth it. I forgot to say also when you disconnect the car battery it doesnt lose anything. I was surprised by that as all others go back to wipeout mode. The radio you set by selecting the station and hold the corrosponding number for a few seconds til it beeps. station is then set. I had a faulty IPOD cable on my unit. Matt sent me another one the next day no questions asked. I also tried a POWERED RADIO BOOSTER as an experiment for matt. . Dont bother. The unit works better without it. Regards, Jeff Regards Jeff
