There is one fuse in the loom (Inline fuse holder) the unit comes with... PITA to check as it means pulling the unit out.

Have you tried a hard reset?

    Mick
    Thanks Mick!

Hmm. PITA is right. How does one perform a hard reset? I tried pushing the reset button with the stylus, is that it, or is there more to it?

I have had my TP09X1 in the Prado now for two weeks. All has been working great but over the last couple of days the unit has failed to start on two separate occassions. On the first occassion I checked all of the vehicle fuses which were OK. I then started to remove the head unit in order to get to the fuse at the rear. Half way through it fired up. I then checked all of the connections as I thought that I had a loose plug but all seemed fine. On the second occassion (yesterday) I started the car and there was nothing at all. I then continued with my journey and after about 10 minutes the screen went blue with nothing else. I tried to turn the unit off but the screen remained blue. After a few more minutes the unit fired up and all is OK again. The only thing that I can think of is that the unit is hanging due to my Ipod being connected. I have an Ipod touch which I know is not really compatable at this stage. I have since disconnected the Ipod and it is Ok this morning. I will keep you posted. 8)

Ok, pulled the unit out and checked the fuse. All is ok behind there and the fuse is fine, power on both sides of it. Unless there is some other magic about, the unit is dead.

I'm off for the Barossa for a couple of days, does anyone have a phone contact for digi_options?

            Thanks Mick, much appreciated.

I contacted Matt, and he is keen to help with whatever is required to put the unit right. The only problem I have is that after bouncing around on some of the tracks to some out-of-the-way wineries in the Barossa, the TPX091 gave a little blue flash and came back to life!

So, I will just have to wait and see. I'm certain my connections are all ok, I soldered them all apart from the reverse wire (scotchlock) so I guess it might be a plug fault or something internal in the unit. I was going to pull it out this weekend and do some more exhaustive testing, but no point if it's working.

Oh yea, if you want to try some wine from off the beaten track, look for David Franz Wines near Tanunda. Amazing wines and a great bloke - the GPS came back online outside his winery.

              Hey guys,
We're BACK! Finally! We really missed this place.
Just an update, we're still trying to find the perfect DVB-T antenna as the ones we thought might be suitable for the digital box to give it nationwide coverage. Something interesting to note though, I was chatting to a customer today who could only receive SBS on the digital box. He uses Telstra wireless internet (you know the "I go everywhere ads?") and he had to upgrade to the Telstra's stronger internet antenna as he drives around the mountain a lot. It has the same SMA F connector and a 15db gain and he now gets most (if not all) digital channels. We'll keep you posted and the owners of the DVB-T receivers will be the first to know when the "perfect antenna" is discovered.

                Welcome back Matt,

The unit hasn't missed a beat since it returned from it's little electrical 'holiday'

                  Hi all,

After reading all the helpful info here I got the TP09X1 in and working, even the camera!

A couple of questions if anyone can help:

I pulled out my old 2nd gen ipod and it plays music ok, incuding pause, skip etc, but the menu button on the head unit doesn't seem to do anything. Should it call up the ipod menu on the head unit screen? Also, should it charge the ipod?

I tested the DVD and had it playing in the background for 20 mins or so. When I ejected the disc I noticed that it was quite hot to touch, and realised the unit itself ran quite warm even on radio. Is that normal?

                  Cheers for that.

                    Unit appears to work OK..

1: BT is very deep and the sound is not as sharp / clear as my old blue ant..

2: BE VERY CAREFULLY with teh mem card... Took it out... added some stuff and it took me 15 min to get it to stay in... Had to make a change, and now I have to use a cut off cable tie to jam the card in place.... It clicks but pops straight out...... Have to get a Black one so it does not show......

Lets hope the rest of the system is better built.

Do you have any recomendations.. I have used and like TomTom..

Am using what came with the unit... But it is missing lots of roads and very little in teh way of speed limits etc...

My TomTom has most of Brisbane and SE Qld and as I am on teh road a fair bit ... This all helps but the version I have does not have full TTS...

Was hoping IGO8 might be better but the version with teh system is a step backwards at this stage..

Any advice or recomendations would be most helpful.

Has anyone had any problems recieving a GPS signal after installing this unit,

I had it fitted last week, but after trying iGo I wasnt getting and bars on the GPS signal indicator on the bottom left of the screen, although when I checked the GPS connection, the unit recognised the antenna attached.

I talked to the fitter who told me he placed it under the dash which is the standrd Toyata place to put them,

So after speaking to Donna and Matt , Matt sugested that this should be on top of the dash to recieve a signal,

so I opened up the consol again , found the reciever and placed on the dash to test, but still no signal,

now I am not sure if the problem is with the antenna or Unit

                        anyone else had this issue?

I plan on ordering one of these units in the next couple of weeks ... I just have a couple of questions first:

I am looking at buying an Ipod Nano ... from my reading, would I be correct that none of the new ipods work yet with this unit?
Can you pair more than one mobile to the unit?
and lastly, has anyone tried skinning (menu screens etc) one of these units yet?

Hopefully once I get mine I can add something worthwile to this thread

I too experimented with the GPS antenna inside the dash where the Toyota unit would be, and found it a poor spot for good signals.
Considering how much coax was with the GPS antenna, I placed it next to the roof rail on the drivers side at the back of the car and run the coax back thru the back door seal and to the front of the car in the roof lining trim.
I will try and add some photos

My GPS was the one thing that worked really well on mine. Box is in the middle of the dash on top.
TV is a waste of money unless you live under the antenna you are not going to get much of a signal.
One in Perth (Canningvale) but nothing here in Mandurah as yet.
My partner had just bought a brand new Ipod and it works very well with the unit, we use the Ipod to change songs as it doesnt appear to work off the screen. Still playing so will see what happens.
Bluetooth took a little restetting to get going and for the moment it works sometimes, need to have a closer look still. (mite be my fone to)
Still to fiqure out how to load the Oziexplorer and the maps but Im sure I will work something out eventually.
I have found the sound depth and quality to be miles better then the old unit, not as good a radio signal though...compromise.

All in all I feel like it is not a bad unit, when the bugs are all gone it should do the trick.

                                - copy and paste the oziexplorerCE from your computer onto the microsd card.

                                - insert microsd card into the unit. iGO8 will start. After it starts click on exit
