Try a different SD Card or run scandisk across the card. I suspect that there is a damaged disk or corrupted filed

Also I've noticed if I don't use the GPS for 2 or 3 days it loses the time zone setting and defaults back to GMT
Hopefully I've solved this little issue also. I've made the following changes to the SYS text file:

Under the timezone ( [timezone] )settings add the following:

        sync_os_timezone=0
        reset_os_timezone=0

          Hey everyone

I bought this unit about 5 months ago in preparation for a 3 month 20,000km trip taking in Cape York & Central Arnhem Road out to Nhulunbuy, so it saw stacks of absolute bone jarring corrugations. During the trip I had to remove the unit 4 times. The GPS antenna kept coming loose where it mounts to the back of the unit. In the end I had to take the back of the unit off to fix the connection from the inside. This fixed the problem and all was good for the 3-4 weeks until I had a problem loading Ozi-Explorer. I took out the SD card to check the files and all was good when loaded on my PC. Put the SD card back in and the unit would not "click" in the SD card. End result - no GPS, either IGO8 or Ozi for the second half of our trip. Not happy Jan!

Have been in contact with Dig-Options who suggested I damaged the SD card unit. I know I didn't as I was careful to put in the right way and I have had plenty of experience with SD cards before, including setting up R4 chips for the kids computer games. Matt said he could not repair but would send me a new SD slot . . . still waiting but it was only a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully the IT boys at work will be able to fix the slot for me and all will be good. If not, I will be faced with the option of buying a new unit or keep the existing one without a GPS function.

It's a pity as the unit was awesome while it worked.

Her's a pic of the unit using OziExplorer navigating me up the Old Telegraph Track up at Cape York.

I will keep you posted how it goes.

          Cheers - Byrnsie

Let us know how you go..

I found that the card goes in with the contact facing UP... Not as expected. Hence I also broke mine..

Running at present with a piece of a thin card board used to lock the card in...

As to the connectors at teh back... I use a hot glue gun and made sure all was tied up high... If any wires and or connectors drop down they catch on teh cross bar and cause all sorts of problems.

As to random touch screen... Had it once... Had to do a number of hard resets and now all is good.

Just hate having to set all my radio stations up every time...

WOULD love to be able to do a software upgrade on the unit and fix the default stations to what I want.. Other issue is I do a bit of driving... Thus searching is great... But when I get home... Have to reset all my stations again..

A big plus would be to have the BT / phone section allow an ADDRESS book.. Have poor memory these days and only one or two numbers i REMEMBER.. But the thing has no address book.. So I am forced to try and use teh phone... Thus driving is an issue.

Also an update to the ipod part such that it recognises the later iPhones etc..

Would assume it is all built into the rom / system... But would be great to be able to UPDATE...

My BT seems to be working a little better now with my nokia E71. I havent had any low audio issues for a while.

Regarding my ipod classic connection, I have since installed a 3.5mm audio -> 2 RCA and using the AUX port. I wasnt too happy with having to keep finding the album I was listening to again and again as each time I would stop the car I would need to start the ipod from scratch. I like the fact I can stop and instantly pickup from where I left off. Plus the interface needs a bit of work and the audio was distorting using the ipod interface.

Using the 3.5mm sounds much much better now, but it means I have to control the ipod from the ipod. No biggie for me as I am much faster using this then the deck/screen

I know it defeats the purpose, but I can still initiate a call from my phone and it will run through the speakers/deck. Hell of a lot easier I reckon.

Those with screen/ button issues , have you tried using a computer screen cleaner , sometimes oil / grime from your fingers can cause problems. worth a try, also self adhesive screen savers can reduce the touch sense as i found on the polaris in the cold weather. Randy

                  Hi Byrnsie,
I'm sorry to keep you waiting on the part. I'm expecting a few orders in this week. I have not had an order for some time as I was overseas. My supplier has included the part with my order. Apologies for the delay.
So from the sounds of things we should certainly look at using a cable out of the head unit with a connector for the GPS F connector (as VMS do). I'm sorry for the dramas you experienced. I hope it is all good now. Please feel free to email me at [email protected].
                  Thank you for your patience,
                  Matt

                    Hi all,
Just a heads up that in a few weeks we will be shifting from eBay to our very own website. At the launch of the website we will be launching a new professional series to our range to rival the VMS unit but at half the price. Watch this space.

                      Bad news on my unit.

It failed to fire up this morning, it was completely dead as I left home to drive to work. About 15min into my trip the radio fired up but no screen. Played around a bit once I got to work but still no screen. Once I turned the ignition off and on again the radio didn't come on again. She's completely dead at the moment. :!:

I'll spend some more time on it tonight and see if I can get it to fire up again long enough to do a reset.

                        Hi all,
I was playing with idea of getting one of these units before Christmas, however there seems to be a few that are now starting to cause trouble. Is this starting to become a common thing (problems starting to arrise) or am I just reading about the few that there are? I guess there is always a risk buying cheap stuff. I would appreciate hearing peoples thoughts about this unit now they have had it for a while before I get one.

Not sure, without checking, how long I've had mine, it must be over six months now and I have used it almost every day. The radio is always on and the gps on in the background, II mostly run the map on the screen even if not using the A to B navigation. Up until now I have been wrapped with the unit. It's also been great when we travel running Ozi.

I've had a couple of little gremlins with the IG08 software (time zone and clock as mentioned in this thread) but I've now sorted these little problems and the fixes are posted in this thread.

Further to my current problem... I played around a little more. My Radio now springs to life as normal with ignition, but the screen takes 5-10 mins to fire up and when it does it starts very dim and takes a further few minutes to get to normal brightness. While this is happening all the stations are displayed as "0".

Once up and running if I switch to the GPS screen it is also painfully slow to load (normally it comes straight on as it's running in the back ground in dual function mode).

It seems the unit/processor is bogged down.

Once up and running it all seems fine until I restart the car and the whole slow start up process repeats.

I'm going to install a fresh SD card and navigation software over the weekend in the slim hope that that may be the issue.

                          Mick

PS - I should mention Matt from Dig Options is helping me out via Email to sort this issue out.

Well a change of SD card seems to have solved the problem...because I have the unit dual boot (Defaults to Radio on start up and loads the navigation in the background) I imagine it must have been hanging up on the faulty card.

BTW, Matt from Dig_Options was quite happy to have me send the unit back for replacement so warranty isn't an issue.

I had an issue with an SD Card in a small 4.3 inch unit. The card reads fine in my PC but fails to read in the unit or even my wifes camera. Nothing I do to the card seems to resolve the issue (reformat with an SD format program from HP, reformat in my daughters camera). Might be somehting similar with yours.

Did a hard reset tonight (actually several) and tried about 50 times to start it up... she's kaput. I have back lights on the buttons, and the amp thumps (noise in speakers) when I press reset and thats all.

Hopefully I can get it out and Matt can do an repair/exchange before the christmas holidays
