I've been through the thread but haven't found an answer to this one. Does anyone know if this is possible?

Also, how do you get updates to Igo8 (and maps)? My TP09X1 appears to have shipped with a version circa Feb '09

They are sometimes listed on Ebay, or if you search around enough; free via torrent download

Download details are a few pages back.

I've found things like Media Player for WindowsCE but dont know how I would install it, is it do-able?
Do-able, first you need to run a file manager program though. This will allow you to access the files and programs already on the unit, install new ones, move, delete and access files easily etc etc.

        Thanks Mick,

Any suggestions for a file manager, or how to run it on the TP09?

HI all, Just installed my new TP09X1 into my 08 Prado without any real problems. BUT I am having problems with Oziexplorer in that first up it wouldn't fire up, I would just get a popup screen to input registration code and if I clicked on that it would just go back to the main menu. For some reason it started to work but whenever I open a window in ozi it would revert back to the main menu again, click navi button and ozi comes up with the open window, click on the window and it goes back to the main menu again!!!! Makes for a very frustrating time. Just running the demo at the moment and not sure whether to bother getting the licence and some maps if its not going to cooperate :x . Is there a patch available to fix this or was that just for the older units. I have just finished reading through the whole thread(phew!) and haven't gotten anywhere.
Also has anyone found a USB storage device that will work with this unit? I have tried 2 different mp3 players and a 500G portable hard drive and it just doesn't seem to recognize them. Haven't tried a memory stick yet.
Overall this unit is looking like a case of "you get what you pay for"(unfortunately).
          Can't we just keep travelling?

If this is one of the Hires units then get in touch with Matt. A number of users ont his forum and elsewhere had the same issue and it looks like it was an issue with the other software running on the unit. Matt has a patch/fix for this so either give him a call, email or PM.

I have a DVD with music and video on it. The MP3 player let me pick "MP4" which started playing the video's, but now I cannot get back to the MP3 menu/player. Does anyone know how to do that?

And still hoping someone can point me to a file manager/alternative media player...?

              Cheers,

I'm using the file manager than Matt had embbeded in his software package for his on/off road Nav screen. Not sure if everyone got this or just the early models. Can't for the life of me remember what its called (WinFile32?? or something like that?).

There are heaps out there for free download, try a Google search. GS Finder and CE FileCommander spring to mind as two I've used.

For software, download the MioPocket package and have a look through it. There's a whole folder of WinCE programs to play with in it.

I use Total Commander with the Registry Editor plugins and it is great. What ever File Manger you choice, simple copy this onto your Micro SD card, put this back into the GPS unit and then change the navigation path for the GPS button to point to this new application. Then click on the GPS/Navigation button to start it up.

I got MioPocket installed and a few apps working - wow! Works well with the TP09X1, with the NAVI hotkey launching MioPocket's 'favourites' screen for access to my different GPS apps, media players etc. Bluetooth hands free still works as well too. I don't have my reverse camera hooked up yet though, as it seems my '05 was before the updated wiring loom...

I don't know if anyone else has tried it, but I can't get any of the media players (including WMP) to play video though as I can't find where to add video to a playlist.

Got Ozi working thanks to the patch that Matt sent me a link to. Now Im not sure if this is the program for me. Seems very complex to me. I'm after something a little simpler. Has anyone installed another moving map program on the TPO9X1?
Another problem I have is that I cant seem to make a copy of the iGO program. If I try to open the folder or copy it I get an error message saying something along the lines of "this no longer here or is on a drive that is unavailable" or something like that. Just thought I should save a copy to my computer in case I stuffed something up messing around or I lost the SD card but it wont let me. Any ideas?

                                Hi Michael,

when I got mine I copied the sd card straight away and bought a second card to play with my config on. Mine had a Igo folder which apeared to have no files in it. Yet it seemed to work, The sd card had polinav on it as well which when I readressed the TP to run off the start screen on the card it tried using Polinav. I did not like it. I have rebuilt my spare card running Igo and Ozi (demo only at the moment). I believe there are versions of IGo on the net.
