  • Re: Dig_Options TP09X1 GPS, Reviews & Information

    Hello people.
A wonderful collection of posts, takes quite a while to get through.
I am also intending to get a TP09X1 installed.
There were some posts early on about problems with the digital TV Aerials, and waiting for a better aerial to become available.

I have been told that the recomended Digital TV unit now has 2 external earials . I want to ask peoples opinion about the external digital TV recever with 2 aerials.
I am in the melbourne area. Can anybody that has this setup installed tell me if the reception for digital TV has any short comings.
Is the picture clear and sound good on all channels. Or are some poor. I have heard that the reception is usually not very good on these types of units.
    Please advise.
    Regards
    Dave

I have just fitted my new tp09x1 but can someone tell me do I have to download IGO8 maps for the sd card and if so can someone recommend the best site to do this and will I have to pay or are thay free. I did think this would already be on the micro sd card when I hit navi I get nothing if someone can help me with this that would be great.

        Thanks Clarkey

          Hi Clarkey,

I would suggest making a 'back up' of your SD card. I did this with a larger SD card so I could add more maps. The original sits in a cupboard at home. When you do this you can explore the card and see what software is loaded on it. Mine came with Ozi (trial version), Polinav and Igo). When I first pushed the Nav button on the TP it went to Igo. I needed to change the addressing to get it to go to the screen that then gave me the choice of 'off' or 'on' road navigation. When I did that I accessed Ozi or Poli nav. I did not like Poli nav so I ditched it and put Igo in its place. There is some info on how to do all this in the exsisting TP09X1 thread.

thanks to Matt who replaced my unit for me!!!!!

i read all the threads re: using existing wiring to wire up the reverse camera. running the supplied av cable is very simple. took half an hour to remove and replace trims ect. you just need a snake to pull cable threw the rear cargo area. for simplicity i would recomend doing it this way.

can someone post a link on how to change from polnav to igo. thanks

If it dosn't have any of the software on the card (should have iGo) then contact Matt. I believe he has a location where you can get this from or maybe you need to send him the SD card. Anyway contact Matt and he should be able to assist.

I fitted my premium Dig_Options unit last night. It was quite a painless exercise and was basicly plug and play apart from earthing the pink wire and also running a reverse power wire to the blue wire in the supplied wiring harness.
I have to say that the fit and look of the unit looks like it is from the factory. Every thing seems to be working exept for the GPS "spoken instructions". When I am coming up to a turn, the unit mutes the radio but there are no spoken instructions, just silence. Does any one have an idea what may be the problem. :?

Check your IGO Audio settings - they might be muted. - There are found sound settings under iGO all under the same location...

Thanks for the tip, I have sorted the problem. Although it was not a sound/audio setting, I went into the "Region" settings and changed the voice option. The default voice was obviously not working and changed to another option (UK Amy i think) and now all is good.

                      Sounds great Willo

Are you able to post a pic of the head unit in-dash to give us a good look as to how the final product looks?

How does the audio sound compared to the standard head unit? I use my ipod a lot and am looking at getting one of these to upgrade the standard head unit.

                      Any issues?

Do you know if the phone ringing on bluetooth will pause your ipod?

I presume the steering-wheel buttons still function etc.

                          Hi Craig,
The audio sound is excellent and is just as good if not better than the factory. The only ipod issue I have come across is that it does not charge the ipod, I will be emailing Matt from Dig_Options regarding this as the spec sheet for the premium unit states that this is a function that should occur.
The blue tooth is excellent and definately mutes but have not paid attention to whether it pauses the ipod/iphone. I have the remote mic fittedjust up near my head with the wire running through the door surround seal and from all reports the person on the other end can hear me clear as a bell.

I will try and post some pictures either tonight or tomorrow, my internet speed at home is currently shaped until the end of my billing cycle (today). I took a few photos during the install but they were with my phone so are not the best.

Matt does provide the loom to hook into the steering whell controls but I have an 06 model which does not have these controls
                          Cheers

Is there anyone with the premium unit who has used Oziexplorer yet? I understand that the SD card slot on the premium unit is in the back and therefore I assume not accessible without actually pulling the unit out of the dash?

If this is so does anyone know if you can tell Ozi to look to the USB port for maps and data? I know that Ozi has this feature as I use it now from my PDA but I want to know if this function works with the premium unit. Each time I do a trip I have new waypoint and track files to load and having the SD card in the back of the unit makes this a major pain so I am hoping that I can use a USB stick for this.

                            Thanks

Go into the Configuration for the Maps and you can set this to an alternative location or you can set the location that the tracks are saved to. I think that is either on the same config window as the maps location or the next option down.

OK, here's one that has me stumped. I have one of the original units which does a great job.

The last 3 times I have driven from QLD into NSW, as soon as I hit the NSW border, the TP09X1 resets itself. It is always in GPS mode and within 50m of the border, it gives that cheery little shutdown chirp and the GPS resets and 5 seconds later we're back in business. This has occured on 3 different entry roads, so it's not location specific, but definitely location specific in terms of geography. It doesn't do it going from NSW into QLD. Has anyone else experienced this?
