  • What is the second antenna connection?

    I've just installed a TP09X1.

(For the record, my July 2007 GXL did NOT have the reverse camera wiring in place. More's the pity.)

When I had taken out the factory stereo system, I found that there is what looks like a second (narrower) antenna connector.

    What is this?

Someone else asked this question a while ago, but I didn't see a reply.

    Paul

PS - I had a problem with my indicator and hazard lights after installation. All good now. viewtopic.php?f=16&t=11818

      Hi Paul,
I think that second cable is for the GPS that are fitted into the stereo systems on the Grande model Prado. When I did my install I found the same.

Well mine turned up in the mail the other day and I put it in last night and the first thing I noticed was how easy it was to put in. Second thing was the difference in sound quality , very impressed I got the tv tuner and higher res reverse camera but didn't get time to put them in so will have another go one night this week.

Just wanted to know if anyone had mounted the camera in the middle of the spare wheel?? Just thought it might give a more central position but not sure how I would get the cable into the door from there.

Were are you planning to mount the TV antennas?

I initially mounted mine above the numberplate, but then moved it to the center of the spare wheel instead. I basically ran the cable through the back door behind the spare. I simply drilled a hole straight through the door (from the inside) and ran the cable through a nice tight fitting grommet that I bought from S/Cheap.

              Hi Guys,

Installed my unit some time ago but havent done anything about the TV, just wanting to know what antenna or tuner (Brand) did you install to make it work and where did you purchase it from?

              Cheers

I considered mounting mine under the rear bumper, beside or under the tow-bar. In the end, I just used the rego plate lamp housing. The view is not so bad, and I tweaked a little by pointing the camera slightly down and toward the centre of the vehicle.

Actually, I also wondered about drilling a hole in the bumper, since the front of the camera housing is a screw fit.

I got mine from matt at the same time I got the main unit. I can't comment on quality yet but I think it will be fine.

My tip is dont go too low as the dirt and crap will cover it up.

It looks like there is a enough cable there to run them on the rear windows on each side but not sure if the built in radio one will effect it?? would be good if it doesn't as I don't really want to put them on the windscreen.

I was thinking side and rear window to try to get better coverage?

I have had the Premium unit installed since around the end of October and have experienced a number of glitches. Has anyone else experienced a problem where the unit somehow deletes all the GPS data off the SD card. I have now had this happen twice and it is quite anoying when you are away and relying on the GPS function.
I also thought I backed up the SD card when Matt sent a replacement but when I copied my "back up" onto the SD card there are no iGO8 files.

It was pretty straight forward. I simply tapped two holes through the bracket/step that the spare sits on (when no nuts are done up) and used a couple of small bolts/nuts to attach it.
Camera and cable going through door skin behind spare wheel bracket...
