  • converting co-ords from one format to another

    Hi All.

I had to just do a little searching on google trying to find a long, lat of a degrees, minutes location.

My GPS can do either with a little bit of button pushing.
But here is a link to a jeep website with a quick converter for different formats.

I have read that it is not 100% but it seems close enough for most uses.

Dont know if its been on here before, Also dont know if we can legaly post it but I am not taking any credit for any of it, just sharing the link.

Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.

    Thanks for that.
I find OziExplorer is good enough for doing these conversions - just enter it in one format and then change to the other format.
Most of my conversions are from UTM ( Eastings /Northings grid reference ) to Lat/Long.
Seems bushwalkers still use UTM grid references and but geocachers and search and rescue I notice use lat/long in degrees and decimal minutes.
I'm tending to leave my GPS in degrees and decimal minutes these days, for that reason.
    Cheers, Wayne
