  • Nav software for in dash unit

Hi all, does anyone use a nav prog similar to oziCE? I'm looking for one to run on my TPO9X1 thats simpler than ozi. I dont need all the functions that it has. Just a moving map will pretty much do. I used a prog called ttmaps on my tomtom which could load ecw maps and was looking for something similar(I dont think ttmaps will work on winCE).
    Any thoughts?

Oziexplorer is mainly used while driving offroad or using custom maps.

Most people will run the following software for town/freeway navigation:

    Tomtom Navigator
 IGO (ver 8.3 and above)
    IGO Primo (v 1.1)

    Others include Destinator/etc...

I've had trouble getting Tomtom Navigator going with my unit which got 128MB of RAM (aparently works fine with 64MB units),
so at the moment trying to decide between IGO 8.3.xx and IGO Primo 1.1 (SWMBO likes IGO 8.3.xx interface) for onroad
and using Ozi Explorer for offroad maps.

    Cheers,

    Stan

I don't use a fraction of the features of OziCE, pretty much just run it full screen in moving map mode.

Is your unit running out of memory or something?

No I was just looking for a simpler option than ozi. Got nothing against it and it seems to run fine, just a bit unwieldy for me.

            There are a couple of other Windows CE mapping softwares around. I don't know much about them or if they are any better or worse than Ozi. ;

Fugawi, GPS Tuner 5.1 and TrackRanger.

You may have to do some research on the GPS forums.

Thanks for that Mick, I have been looking, just thought there might have been someone here who has used or is using something other than ozi. Then again, thee might be a very good reason why most people use ozi over anything else.
              I'll check out your suggestions.
