I recently purchased a 2004 Toyota Prado Grande which has a Toyota GPS which incorporates the radio and sound system. It still has the original whereis maps (ver 10) that came with the vehicle when it was new.
I have a problem with the GPS in that I was fiddling around with it and managed to get into the service menu and within that there was an option to change the maps.
Just for the hell of it I decided to do this and firstly I selected the Australian map. A message came up saying it was loading and not to cut the power while it was doing its work. Eventually the map loaded was and all was ok, so I then decided to go through the same process again but this time (very stupidly) I decided to load the US map.
Since then the radio and sound system still work but the GPS function no longer works and all that happens is I get a message that says “Please insert the correct map disc”. In addition it is no longer possible to use any of the GPS menu functions. I tried removing the map DVD and replacing but I have not had any luck.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this problem?
Thanks in advance.
