  • That looks like a great idea Rob. I still have to get the tread plate to finish mine off but I will have to look at doing that myself

    • Good thinking mate, finishes off that little gap nicely!

      • Hey Rob, I have finally got the tread plate to finish my rear bar off and have been looking at the photo's above. Am I right that your tread plate is screwed on rather than riveted? Also, how is the rear door trim (the one you have just put the pinch weld on) attached?

        Thanks,

          Thanks,
The checkerplate is screwed on I think, I will check. The pinchbar is slid onto the checkerplate which overhangs. This means the bulby bit presses against the black bit on the car creating the seal but still allowing free movement when the carrier twists and torques with the car frame.

Thanks Rob, but how is the 'black bit' held on? I thought you had attached the pinchweld to the black bit not the ally.

I have the horrible feeling that they have left part of the old plastic bumper on the car. I say horrible as I have thrown away all of the old bumper.

            • The black bit is part of the original car. It rests (clips) to two metal horizontal bits about a foot long from my recollection. The Pinchweld just pushes up against it to create the seal.

              • Tested a slight modifcation on the weekend. It is a detachable backup Prado. After trialling a Matty&Loz-V1202006 last year I decided to try the latest AJ120-V1202008. While these are a high performance mod, they are rare as hen's teeth! Not sure if it is really a fuel efficient modification:
                See: AJ120-V1202008.

                  • You are not the first to suggest foul play. The footage will speak for itself and is capable of forensic review of the metadata. As I sit here, I am still amazed that this occurred not once, but twice! Trusth be known, it's like discovering father Christmas is not real. It shatters the very foundations upon which we strive to impove our own 4wding capabilities.

mlc - lost and confused, but still with a grin from ear to ear.

Correct mate! You had to be in a limited place to say that and yes, that's exactly where I was! Can I ask a small favour, does the LHS I gave have a solid plate behind the license holding plate? My replacement one does not which is about to cause me some grief and I was hoping we might be able to swap that bit (it is simply bolted on with 3 massive bolts. If this doesn't make sense let me know.

BTW, that's the same place we took the arm off, just was parked in the right hand corner facing the wall. Must have looked dodgy at the time

                              You mean this bit:

                              Sorry about the dust!

Edit: I think this is the bit you wanted to see:

Sure! When do you need it? I'm off to the show tomorrow, I could possibly drop it off at the 7th planet or nearby on the way and pick the crappy one up on the way back after lunch if that suits. Otherwise name a time and place and we can play midnight motors...

Reckon. Surprised you didn't get a visit from security based on that and the description of the service truck's escapades getting in there.

                              • That's not the bit. behind that plate (lets call it the number plate plate) is an adjustable bit that fits into the main arm assembly. My one on the RHS has a flat face to it like the number plate plate. The new one one the LHS has no face.

Darren actually had to let his tyres down to get up and down the car park. At one stage I was hanging off the side of his rig to get the awning bracket to clear.
