  • My Black VX

So I thought it was about time I started a rig build up.
So far I have a pretty standard 2005 VX - Diesel.

    I started with DVD Headrests
    viewtopic.php?f=16&t=10208

Then I removed the standard 2 Din Radio and added a Pioneer deck and iComm UHF
    viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8561

Next step was spotlights and switch installation

Then I added a Tekonsha Brake Controller

    and Redarc dual battery controller

    for my new camper

Oh and just spent a few hours washing and polishing

Next step is to get a Safari Snorkle and Billstein 2" lift.

        Hutch

I had been looking around for a while and read good and bad reviews about all brands.
As I had a very limited budget I went with one from E&Z trading.
        http://cgi.ebay.com.au/OFF-ROAD-4WD-4X4 ... 3cb7106ad9

Couldnt find any issues with it straight off the trailer, the weathering process has seemed to work. Guess I'll have to wait until a real live camping trip to find out any other irregularities or things that I can improve on. I went over to Vic to pick it up and I can say it tows really well, the drive back was quite nice.
Havent had a chance to use it yet as we are selling our house so every weekend has been taken up with that.

well nothing has been going right lately.
Just as I repaired the body trim from rattling the footrest in the drivers well decided it didnt want to be apart of the car anymore and clips broke.
Called Toyota $70 for a new one, gotta be joking must be some way to repair this thing.
So here is what I did, bought some dowel and fixed the brackets

The dowel extended past the end of the brackets and fitted nicely into the underside mouldings of the footrest.

drilled 2 holes matching up with the end of the dowel. screwed the brackets back into the floor of the car and then pressed the footrest carefully onto the dowels so they went into the right holes.

Added 2 black screws down through the footrest into the dowels and whata you now all fixed for a few bucks worth of dowel.

I had the same issue Andrew and came up with the same solution, except I just used some adhesive to keep it in place rather than screws.

Yeah I did think about that, but went with bolts to make sure it doesnt break again.
The screws throught the footrest also allow me to remove it if the need arises.

I'd love to say its coming soon, but alas finances have become tight and doesnt look like it will be any where in the foreseeable future. Thanks for the offer though I'll definitely be asking for some help when the time comes.
