Thanks mate, it's been fun doing it up. I'm at a point now where I use the vehicle in progressively more difficult off-road situations and it's time to think about a lift kit and bigger tyres but once I do that I wont be able to fit it in my garage anymore

i took the rails off mine to make way for the lift, but i see that you actually do use your roof for mounting things.
You could always undertake some garage renovations

Yeah, I don't want to have to remove/refit the roof rack each time I use it so I think that parking the car out the front of the house will be the ultimate end result. Maybe a simple shade sail to keep the sun off it. Arghhh, another expense

Hi Westy, great looking rig! and fantastic build report.
Im also interested in where you got the distribusion fuse block? and the combo override switch with led light for the SBI12. Also when you ran the power from the aux battery to the fuse block in the rear did you run it straight from the battery or through a circuit breaker?
thanks mate.
Mr Hegs.
The fuse block is from The 12 Volt Shop in Perth, it's called an ST Blade Fuse Block made by Blue Seas. Yes, it has a negative bus but you can get them without if necessary.
The combo override switch I got from Jaycar for a few bucks and simply illuminates when the button is switched on (I also needed a 1k ohm resistor as per the instructions that came with the SBI12). I used this type of switch because I didn't want to have an extra LED next to the switch - kill two birds with one stone
The Aux battery feed runs through a 150 amp circuit breaker to protect the car from a fireball!

Sure do. I'd totally forgotten to post up the pics. Yes, you use the existing bolts for most of the installation, however there are a few extras included in the kit that link the plates together. There is also a new bracket that mounts on the middle cross-member to support the third plate.
This first pic shows that bashed and battered OEM plates still holding about 20kg's of mud on top of them!
Here's what remained after removing the plates - time for a hose down.
Yeah, that looks better.
The finished product nice and new.
I didn't install the transfer case guard from ARB as I'm waiting on the one designed by Brains on this foum. The ARB guard is probably not much better than the OEM one, only a bit thicker but offers no extra protection.
Overall I'm confident that the new guards will work a whole lot better than the OEM guards as they are much thicker but dont add too much weight either. The whole job took about an hour and a half including giving the underside a good clean.
