  • Damien and Wendy's 150 V6

We were unfortunate at Xmas 2010 to have some major car trouble with our VX Crummydore Wagon and required a new ride to get back to Townsville from Newcastle. Our fortune then changed as we made a purchase of a 11/09 150 GXL V6. A diesel would have been nice, but wasn't available in our price range.

The "new" bus was 13 month's old and had just over 40,000km on the clock. It came with a Toyota bullbar, towbar and sportz roof bars already fitted. We had a look around for seat covers and ended up geting Toyota ones put on all seats including the third row. Was very happy with the feel of the 4WD on the drive from Newcastle to Townsville.

So far we have been very happy with the purchase and just trying to get out and use it. Just been camping a few times and trying to get things reconfigured to best work with our camper trailer.

Only hiccup so far was when Wendy had trouble negotiating a shopping centre car park and tried to peel open the car.

All fixed a few weeks later .... as well as a tyre upgrade to Bridestone D694 LT's.

Just have to sort though some photo's and post up some more. but its a start.

Ouch - but at least easily fixed... good for some points to buy an upgrade/mod (if the new shoes weren't already part of the pay-off).

    BTW - great colour!

love the colour! can you post some pics of the interior? there's not many examples of the tan interior around, I really regret not ordering it.

Was a bit concerned about the colour when we got it, but it has grown on me over the last 5 months. Haven't got any daytime photo's of the interior - will see how I go tomorrow.

The wheel cover is fairly plain compared to the 120 and I wanted get some Prado lettering to stick on it. Found this instead for a bit of a laugh .....

Added some nice cheap HID's as well

Now I just have to finish wiring them up

Picked up the Oztrail RV Shade from BCF for $199, a very nice price. Installation was fairly straightforward, I went for "upside down" with the bracket as we have some height issues with our garage door.

The angle is a bit deceptive, the end doesn't extend past the end of the vehicle.

          cheers

            Hi Folks

I've got a white 150, I like white but the only other choice at the time was black, didn't see that colour much better than the 120 Dune.

            Regards, Richo.

Damien, with regards to mounting your awning upside down on your sportz bar, did you need to adjust the sportz bar so it would stick out more for the awning clear the side of the car? or is that the normal overhang on each side of the car?

                  Hi Craig,

I didn't need any adjustment of the sportz bars for the awning to clear the side of the car. As you see there was plenty of room and I was very happy that "upside down" mounting worked without having to change anything. Hopefully in a few weeks I will get hold of a Rhino Alloy Tray and then pull the whole lot off and store it in the garage when not being used. Will probably turn the awning back up the right way when I install the tray.

                  cheers
