mlc - nothing to do with the total and utter confusion in Marc's thread.

            • I'm so glad this thread was dragged up from the depths!

It has to be my favourite thread on PP because if I am having a bad day, this thread always makes me chuckle.

                • New Little Project

I scored a trailer a little while ago, mainly for a house move.

They look pretty daggy with the little wheels and with its bum hanging down so I figured it gonna be a good project to keep me out the fridge.

Plan was to use a set of Prado wheels and tyres, dont have to carry two spares that way, jack it up and toughen it up a little.

Ive been stick welding all my life but thought it was time for an upgrade and learn a few new skills so santa brought this

The learning curve begins, flux core doesnt make it any easier for thin materials either!

                  Started ordering some parts

                  • Yep, these should do nicely

                    Im committed now!!

Measure up and start tacking on

With a bit of practice the gasless flux core mig is producing reasonable results, nowhere near as good or as easy as with gas but not bad, pretty much use it like a stick welder.

Certainly no pro but Im pretty confident it wont fall apart :-)

                            • Yep I think I must've bought the last set Marc as when I rang a couple of weeks ago they had 1 set left which expedited my purchase (helped me justify it to the Minister for Housing & Finance...)

                              • As you have the lift are you going to use the new welder to beef up the airbag mount on the drivers side when you fit the new ones?
