If it was a particular ARB in Winnelie they are well known for being expensive and poor quality,A mate had a snorkel fitted a couple of years back there and they did an absolute hack job........scratched the bonnet and the side guard.,,,,among other things......Also never put their hand up and took responsability..........poor effort IMO.

How are the Khumos holding up mate.........looking at a set next wet myself.

Kumho's are doing well, I pulled a big nail out of the tread the other day thinking it was small, when it kept coming I thought oh great here we go first puncture the air is going to come rushing out, but to my surprise no air came out. I then put some soapy water over it and no leak. The nail went in at a 45deg angle at the base of one of the big tread blocks towards the middle of the tyre.

I'm driving to Cairns in two weeks so will be putting some k's on them on the highway as well as doing some off road work up that way as well, so more to report back on once I'm back. But through the wet season they have been awesome, I did a U turn out bush and went off the road onto some soft ground I felt the slipping and sinking of the Prado and put the foot down during the turn and it came out onto the road almost sideways once the tyres finished chucking mud. I'll probably go to some All-Terrains once these are finished as I have my Sierra out here with me now as well.

Any news on when the rims are due? should almost finish off the total package!!
Love the Kumho's....can I presume you went for a left hand side spare?.... (Being Directional)

My thinking is that the left side would be more prone to punctures off the side of the tracks..

My order could not be supplied, after waiting on a few replies to emails to both the forwarding company and the website I was ordering from. So once I was credited back I decided on a bull bar in stead. I'm now thinking about a set of 150series rims if they fit and getting them coated in a teflon matt black look colour, but then again if some thing else comes up that's available in Aus I might consider it.

This is what I wanted, I believe they may be available in Australia but have not yet confirmed this.

Yeah my thoughts as well, and I'm generally better at placing and seeing what is going under the right hand side over the left side. I will also have a right hand side as well when I get around to ordering one, I have another spare rim for it to go on.

On my way to Cairns, grabbed a photo before three ways off the Stuart Highway, was trying to get the valley in the back ground but I couldn't get enough elevation to really show it all...

Also installed some spotlights on Sunday offered to me on Saturday. They are IPF got to use them early this morning, I like them but I might spend some coin on HID kit for them.

Long story shortened down, a day before I was set to drive over to Cairns for my Holiday break I discovered I could not select 4Low or 4H or move the selector at all. I was a little worried, but I realised that it was working up until my last service with Toyota in which a warranty job was carried out to replace the throw-out bearing. I called Toyota whilst in my travels and asked if this could have been caused by the recent service and if I could book it into another Toyota dealer and had it fixed under warranty work if it was? They wanted to look at it themselves, so I explained it was not going to happen, as it would greatly change my travel plans, and need to be at a wedding, and I really wanted to use 4Low whilst in my travels into FNQ. Anyway I booked the Prado into Pacific Toyota in Cairns and they fixed the shifting issue. I told them it could possibly be due to work previously done. When I came back to pick up the Prado the shifter had been installed incorrectly and they had been in contact with Toyota in Darwin, who were not willing to cover the $68 it cost for them to fix the issue. I paid and was thankful it was a quick fix and I had the option to select 4Low again.

To my amazement though I got a call later in the afternoon from Cairns Toyota again, Toyota in Darwin were now willing to pay for the work after speaking with the mechanics and staff at Cairns Toyota, who from the start had been nothing but helpful and understanding of my situation. So it now appears I will have to also check work done on my 4WD after going in for work if I ever do again.

So now for the product report on the Kumho's, I have now pulled out two nails and one roof screw and still no leaks from the damage they did. Had one accident avoidance in Palm Cove out of Cairns when a bloke with his family pulled out right in front of me then slammed on the brakes stopping in front of us, luckily it was a 60km/h zone, I hit the brakes hard and went on and off as I swerved out of his way onto the other side of the road without to much skidding.

The tyres got a good workout from Hughenden up to Cairns, dirt roads, bad roads, rocky roads, and then into Cairns through the Gillies Highway, which I can honestly say gives the Great Ocean road twisty sections a good run for its money.

Thanks for the update Playdoh! Sounds like great service from Cairns Toyota and that they went above and beyond to sort the issue, whereas Darwin seemed to want to opt out.

Also good report about the tyres.

Enjoy your holiday! Don't forget to take some pics!

Sorry not yet, I didn't end up mounting it. When I get back from Cairns I might try fit it up. I'll be sure to get some night time shots when I do.

Some friends and another PP member helped me out with a hard wire socket for my ENGEL fridge today. I picked the inner pocket area on the drivers side of the Prado as the position came recommended, and made sense if backing the rear to the brim.

Running the wiring is so much easier when you have the gear cleared out the way.

I purchased some 6mm white insulated Marine dual core wire from BCF and a socket, I originally wanted it to come out where the carpet over-laps in the boot area of the Prado. Steve(8608) being the good friend he is quickly showed me a better spot to mount it... Nek minute the Prado was stripped down of some more interior panelling holes drilled and.. bobs your aunty it was looking full professional.. 8)

While this was happening another friend of Steve's assisted me with some cabling through the fire wall and I gave a few plastic panels a clean and vacuum of dust and dirt which seemed like a good time to give everything the once over to keep the inside looking new and tidy. I used a cable tie with the end cut off as a bore snake to get the cable going through the fire wall and carpet down into the foot well. Stops the cable getting lost and pushed in behind the carpet.

All run in the original channels and cable tied in read to be hooked up to the spare battery once I choose one. I've kept some extra length in the engine bay for now so it can be cut down to my liking if need be. I also bought a fuse-able link that I will add in close by to the battery. Once it is done I am obviously able to run the fridge in the Prado all the time with out in being turned off when the ignition is.
