I finally got around to fitting a light onto the back door today. It took quite a while to get the wires through so I also ran a second pair of wires for a work light which will go on next month.
The light was from Monster Lights

Not bothering with hard wiring it at the moment. I would like to mount just to the left of the steering wheel on the dash (between the instrument cluster and center display) but I am still working out a way to mount it without leaving any damage.
I think it will just go I the center of the windscreen for the next trip
Getting ready for the big trip. Fitted a couple of 6mm spacers to each side to the bump stops to make sure the suspension remain clear. I could just be being over protective but worth the effort when heading out shortly.

AMTS came through with some good timing and supplied my 150 with a spare tyre spacer and light pole. Very impressed with the quality of this product. The quality of the design, welding and parts supplied were all above expectation.
Wired up and ready to go

Ripper build mate, just read front to back. You're so lucky being that close to the High Country, after my first trip there last year I'm hooked and will be down at Licola November 1, would almost consider moving down there, VIC, if it wasn't for family and work.
That's a nice set up Stephen. How much is he selling such a unit for ? I imagine you added your own led light to the pole ?
Yes I already had a light. The setup is somewhere over $250, but the item is so new that he did not have a final price. I was lucky and he accepted a deposit and I will pay AMTS the rest when he works out the final price.

What are you using as a shovel mount?
Cheers,
Jamie
Thanks mate. I try to get up to the high country for 3 good trips a year but even for people in Melbourne it can be hard as most of the good stuff is too far away for a day trip. A three day weekend is fantastic.
The shovel holder is just a generic soft rubber mount with a small bolt going into the roof rack. I prefer these to the solid mounts. One good and bad thing about these is that they can break. In July I got onto a track that was to overgrown. massive amount of side strips and I lost my shovel. Bad that I lost the shovel but good that it was able to pull away without damaging the car or the roof rack. That's the only circumstances in which I have das one fail so still strong enough for normal (hard) use.
