Dropped my car in for a bit of work today and when I picked it up I was handed an envelope from the guys at Everything4wd Cranbourne http://everything4wd.com.au/ marked with “Happy Anniversary”.

Then I saw these on the front of my car.

Turned out my wife had made a phone call and got them to fit the lights as well as the other work that was being done.

Funny part is that knowing that I did not know what they were doing, the owner and the mechanic spent half an hour arguing over how they should be fitted. They do need to be set back a bit, but they did not want to drill holes into the bulbar without having first speaking to me. A bit worried that I would be pissed off with what my wife had done.

Well a bit more work done on the car. The original side steps were falling apart after a couple of rocks last month. After reading some other posts I contacted TJM in Dandenong. They recommended the Powerful4x4 and not the new TJM rock sliders, but wanted $200 for fitting so I did not take them up on the offer. I went back to Everything4wd, Cranbourne, and they only charged $100 for fitting the same item.

Below is a photo (I will try and get a better photo tomorrow) but I thought I would post my initial thoughts after living with them for a couple of days.

          Disadvantages
They sit higher so are not as good as an actual step, compared to the factory ones. They also do not sit out as far. But this is due to them being rock sliders first and side steps as a second.

          Advantages
Solid and will be around a lot longer than the originals. My kids are now using them (they did not feel safe on the factory ones – but they were damaged). Sitting higher they have really improved the ground clearance on the sides. From a side view they actually make it look like I have had the car lifted another 2”.

Finally got the second battery fitted. A big thanks for all those posts about the options available and the advantages of each.

I have been waiting a long time thinking about the options and in the end I staying with the Redarc battery isolator.

              Final configuration is:-
              Sidewinder Alternator Booster Diode
              Redarc Battery Isolator
96ah ACDelco marine deep cycle battery
Separate fuse holder mounted behind the air filter.

At the moment this is only providing power to the two connections in the back, used for a fridge and 12v lighting but I will move a couple of other things to it in a week or two.

Fuse holder - I thought this would be better long term than each item having an inline fuse and having to hunt all over the car to find a blown fuse.

Hi Mate, sorry for my confusion. Are they TJM or Powerful 4x4 Rock Sliders?

Powerfull 4x4. TJM Dandenong recommended them over their own product.

From the photos I had seen I thought the TJM brackets looked better, but the Dandenong shop put me off.
