I had them fitted them whilst I was getting some other work done, but they said they went on easier than expected. No cutting or modifying required. I think it was just a case of supporting the bulbar whilst the bolts were changed.

If you can, get them fitted at the same time as your bar.

Had some wiring put through the car this week and moved the second battery into the back, with the hope of reducing the chance of cracks in the front guards.

They fitted an Anderson plug so I can easily disconnect the battery when I put the back seats back in, which does not happen too often these days. It’s a bloody big plug and heavy wiring but they have told me that they got no voltage drop as a result, but I have not tested it yet myself.

Sitting behind my fridge slide, I put a timber cover over it to help when I load up. In the past I was putting a 20lt jerry in that location and I am hoping to find a slightly smaller jerry to fit in the space above.

Looks good..... any chance of an overview PIC of the rear setup?

Those Anderson Plugs look like the 100amp ones, any idea on what size cable was used to run to it?

Hey Steve, Nice looking vehicle. Saw it in the flesh the other day on the way home, pulling out across from Amstel. I'll be watching keenly for ideas.

hey weasal4x4. I haven’t done much work to the rig in recent time. Life has had too many issues to let me . This is about the first time I have logged onto PP for about 6 months.

Fitted a long range tank (Brown Davis) at Christmas. 200 usable litres of fuel in nice and will be well used when I do the Simpson in September. The only other work is the plan to have the Redarc radiator coolant alarm fitted and some new tyres for the winter high country run.

Hi Matt. Good to be back. Here’s the picks. I don’t have any before picks so it would be good if someone could put up a photo of their tank from a side view to compare clearance.

I haven’t had it hit anything yet, but should be going to the high country soon and that will be the main test

The car now has a good 200lt of usable capacity which is fantastic. The last pick makes it look like its sitting lower than it is. The side view is the best example and there's no change in clearance angle.

Cheers Steve. I have had an aftermarket tank before (in a hilux ute). With that vehicle the fuel gauge just sat on full for the first 400km and then worked basically normal from there on. How does your work now in the Prado ?

About the same. Does not move for about 300km then a nice slow drop down. I get 1500km to a tank with normal use. The Distance till empty (DTE) is still usable once you get use to it. Starts saying about 980 but gets more accurate as you get closer to empty.

Sounds great. So what's the actual fuel capacity now ? What's it cost ya to fill it now ?

220 total, 200 usable. My DTE was showing 7km left when I had it fitted and it took exactly 200 when I filled it after the tank was fitted. I normally allow $280 when I stop for fuel, but its not that often that I stop, so still happy
