      • It came with the Sovereign bullbar. I have since added my old GME 3200 UHF and Pioneer head unit with an iPod interface cable plumbed through to the glove box.

Am hunting for a cargo barrier, and will get a snorkel fitted soon (I'd hate to kill the engine because of the cut back guard after the bullbar install). Will also be looking into some recovery points for the front.

Will then have to relearn how to drive offroad, and in a manual this time. My old Pathfinder was a point 'n' shoot auto, which I parted with 3 or 4 years ago when we left for the UK.

        • Bunsen, good to see another 2003 GXL V6 Manual out there in the world of autos. Mine also came with the Yota bullbar and I have been following the same path as you in respect to accessories.

They sure are tough, they are pretty much identical to the 120 underneath.

Top photos FlyNDrive. Well done. Where did you get the old school "Four Wheel Drive" badge? Looks great.

                            Clifton,

Thanks, Most of the accessories for the FJ came directly from the Prado since it has been in development for several years and Toyo stole the platform for the FJ Cruiser. The bull bars (front and rear) OME suspension and lift, sliders, and skid plates are from the Prado (and Australian made)

What is different with the 4X4 equipment from Australia and from the equipment "up above"? In my experience the ARB equipment is about the toughest out there, is extremely functional, and looks good.

                            Damien,

Thanks, The FJ Cruiser is actually a Parado in sheep's clothing. It has the same chassis, engine (4.0L Petrol), transmission, suspension, running gear, and even the same inner fenders (the dual battery bracket form another thread would fit in the FJ). The body was changed for the US market because there is an influx of "retro cars" here in the US. It started with the new bug, and has included the Mustang (my last car), Camaro, GTO, and Challenger to name a few.

The FJ series you have in Australia is sought after here in the US as one of the toughest vehicle Toyo makes. One of the FJ Trails Team here in the US stated that they are converting the FJ for a limited run in Australia as a 2009 vehicle.

I custom fabricated the rear winch using a new cross-member bolted to the rear hitch mount points. I drilled holes in the ARB rear bumper to accommodate the winch line and fairlead. I did this because trails here in the east coast of the US are narrow and muddy. It's hard to turn a vehicle around to rescue a fellow driver.

                            Sig035,

Thanks, Moab is AWSOME there is no place like it on earth. It is like an off-road mecca for 4-wheelers. There are hundreds of trails an a several thousand square mile area. They have trails that range from 1-10 skill level. I can make a standing offer to anyone who wants to join us in July of next year we can have passenger seats available if you want to come join us.

As for the Fleetwood Evo 2. I like the idea of a self contained off-road trailer and wanted the smaller E-1, but If the wife wants a shower and a toilet we have to get one even if it means getting the larger E-2. It is the premier off-road trailer here and has A/T's and a 20" clearance. The toy hauler in front is perfect for my 2nd set of tires and a generator.

Thanks. The old badge is from eBay. They make them as 3-D stickers, so there is no drilling needed. If you want one I can arrange to get you one.

Cheers Ben. I had a look on eBay but didn't come up with the goods, admittedly I was using FJ and badge for search terms, not sticker.
